In India, an "encounter" is a shootout between the police and criminals. The term gained notoriety when the country implemented its controversial "encounter specialist" branch. These specialists are trained to engage in gang-like, urban warfare and virtually have an unchecked license to kill. Their primary objective isn't to apprehend, it's to engage and kill.

Although high, 56 is not an unheard of kill count for an encounter specialist. The record "score" is around 110.
