Broadway actor; active from 1912-1957. Joy had an extremely prolific theatrical career, cast in numerous hit productions. He appeared in the original cast production of "The Iceman Cometh" (as "Cecil Lewis") in 1946, "The Philadelphia Story" (as "Seth Lord") in 1939, "Music in the Air" (as "Ernst Weber") in 1932 and "Topaze" (as "Roger de Berville"), one of the biggest hits of the 1930 theatrical season.

French-born, of British parentage.

Studied acting at RADA and made his stage debut in 1910.
