Finnish javelin throwers

Kaj Tapio Rautavaara (March 8, 1915 – September 25, 1979) was a Finnish singer (bass-baritone), athlete, and film actor.

Ilse Kristiina ('Tiina') Lillak (born 15 April 1961) is a Finnish former javelin thrower. She is the 1983 world champion and 1984 Olympic silver medalist. She also twice broke the world record, with throws of 72.40 metres in 1982 and 74.76 metres in 1983. The latter distance ranks third on the all-time list with the old javelin model.

Heli Rantanen (born 26 February 1970) is a retired Finnish track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. She was an Olympic Champion, having won gold in 1996. Her winning throw of 67.94 m was more than two metres ahead of the silver medalist. She was the first Nordic woman to become an Olympic Champion in athletics.

Mikaela Johanna Emilia Ingberg (born 29 July 1974 in Vaasa) is a female javelin thrower from Finland. Her personal best throw is 64.03 metres, achieved in September 2000 in Berlin. She was nicknamed "Mikke" during her career.

Tero Kristian Pitkämäki (born 19 December 1982) is a retired Finnish track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. He is a World Champion, having won gold in 2007. His personal best throw of 91.53 m, set in 2005, ranks him eleventh on the overall list.

Päivi Jaana Maarit Alafrantti (born 8 May 1964 in Tervola, Lapland) is a retired female javelin thrower from Finland.

Kimmo Paavali Kinnunen (born 31 March 1968) is a Finnish former javelin thrower. He won gold at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo and silver at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart.

Antero Puranen is a Finnish Olympic javelin thrower. He represented his country in the men's javelin throw at the 1980 Summer Olympics. His distance was an 84.02 in the qualifiers and an 85.12 in the finals.

Aleksi Kirjonen (born 29 May 1993) is a Paralympian athlete from Finland competing mainly in category F56 throwing events.

Oona Anniina Sormunen (born 2 August 1989 in Kitee, Finland) is a Finnish javelin thrower. She has represented Finland in 2010 and 2012 European Championships.
