Chiefs of the General Staff (Czechoslovakia)

Jan Syrový (24 January 1888 – 17 October 1970) was a Czechoslovak Army four star general and the prime minister during the Munich Crisis.

Ludvík Svoboda (25 November 1895 – 20 September 1979) was a Czechoslovak general and politician. He fought in both World Wars, for which he was regarded as a national hero, and he later served as President of Czechoslovakia from 1968 to 1975.

Bedřich Neumann (3 April 1891 – 15 July 1964) was a Czechoslovak general. He served in the World War I and in the Czechoslovak Legions in Russia, then in the World War II he became an important member of the Obrana národa resistance organisation and chief of staff to the Czechoslovak Army in exile, gaining the nicknames "Miroslav" and "Bohuš Miroslav" whilst in exile during that conflict. After the 1948 Communist coup in Czechoslovakia he became a political exile, dying in London sixteen years later.

Miroslav Vacek (29 August 1935 – 31 December 2022) was a Czech and Czechoslovakian politician and lieutenant general in the Czechoslovak People's Army. Vacek was the Chief of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak People's Army from 1987 to 1989, coinciding with the end of the Normalization era of communist Czechoslovakia. He then became Minister of National Defence of Czechoslovakia 1989 to 1990 following the Velvet Revolution.

Maurice César Joseph Pellé (18 April 1863 – 16 March 1924) was a French général de division, leader of the French Military Mission to Czechoslovakia and first Chief of staff of Czechoslovak Army from February 1919 to January 1921.

Jan Sergěj Ingr (2 September 1894 – 17 June 1956) was a Czechoslovak Army four star general and the Minister of National Defense in the Czechoslovak government-in-exile during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

Major general Jaroslav Čihák (24 July 1891 – 30 April 1944) was an Austro-Hungarian army officer from 1914 and Russian legionary from 1916 (command platoon and battalion).

The Chief of the General Staff of Czechoslovakia (Czech: Náčelník Generálního štábu Československo) refers to the chief of the General Staff of the Czechoslovak Army and the Czechoslovak People's Army, during the existence of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1992. The first two Chiefs of the General Staff of Czechoslovakia were French, as the General Staff was founded by the French Military Mission to Czechoslovakia [cs].

Eugène Mittelhauser (7 August 1873 – 19 December 1949) was a French general, leader of the French Military Mission to Czechoslovakia and second Chief of staff of Czechoslovak Army from 1921 to 1925.
