    Frank Edward Thomas Jr. (born May 27, 1968), nicknamed "The Big Hurt", is an American former professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for three American League (AL) teams from 1990 to 2008, all but the last three years with the Chicago White Sox. A five-time All-Star, he is the only player in major league history to have seven consecutive seasons (1991–1997) with at least a .300 batting average, 100 runs batted in (RBI), 100 runs scored, 100 walks, and 20 home runs. Thomas also won the AL batting title in 1997 with a .347 mark.

Baines batted and threw left-handed. He had three stints as a player with the White Sox, where he also coached from 2004 to 2015, before moving into a role of team ambassador and spring training instructor. Baines, a Maryland native, played seven years with his hometown team, the Orioles, over three separate stints.

He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 1980 at the age of 19, the youngest player in the major leagues at the time. His one major league home run came off future Hall of Fame pitcher Ferguson Jenkins. Although he continued to play in the White Sox organization until 1986, he never again played in the major leagues after 1980.
