The premise for this film is very similar to Romancing The Stone (1984).

As a Paramount Pictures movie, The Lost City is expected to debut on the Paramount Plus streaming service about 30-45 days after its release, just like A Quiet Place Part II and Snake Eyes have done.

Ryan Reynolds was originally sought after for the lead male role, marking this a reunion with Sandra Bullock after The Proposal (2009) but a deal couldn't be reached and Channing Tatum was cast.

Brad Pitt is notoriously picky about which films he appears in. However he agreed to be in this film when Sandra Bullock jokingly said that she would get their mutual friend George Clooney to keep ringing him every day and say "Do Sandra's film" until he gave in. He quickly agreed to do it after that.

Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum both had starring roles in the two films that were theatrically released in the United States on June 28, 2013. For Bullock, it was The Heat (2013). For Tatum, it was White House Down (2013).

After making a cameo in Brad Pitt's movie Bullet Train (2022), Sandra Bullock befriended Pitt and saw an opportunity for a fun casting, which led to Pitt accepting a cameo in this movie.

Daniel Radcliffe's second romantic comedy after 2013's "What If" (also known as "The F Word"). While he played the male lead in that film, he plays the villain here.

The film is about a romance writer (Bullock) on tour for her new book with the books cover model (Tatum) when a kidnapping is attempted forcing her and Tatum into the jungle proving life and love are stranger than fiction.

The Latin quote said by Bullock; "Dulcius ex asperis" is Latin and basically translates to "sweeter after victory". It is also the family motto of the Scottish family name Ferguson and used within their coat of arms.

First film to used without the byline in the Paramount Pictures logo, and the first film under the Paramount Global ownership. Paramount Pictures' parent company ViacomCBS was remained as Paramount Global on February 15, 2022.

Brad Pitt's character of Jack Trainer is a nod to the film that this is a loose remake of 'Romancing the Stone' (1984). In that film the lead character was called Jack Colton and Mary Ellen Trainor, the wife of Robert Zemeckis (who directed it), has a small role. Mary Ellen died in 2015 aged 62 so 'Jack Trainer' is a nod to the original film.

Sandra Bullock is 16 years older than Channing Tatum

Filmed in the Dominican Republic.

Brad Pitt's character eating while talking on the phone is the same way his character was introduced in Fight Club (1999)
