The Kill Team (2019) (Movie)

stars  THE KILL TEAM is based on actual events that occurred during the War in Afghanistan, known as The Maiwand District Murders, that occurred from June 2009 to June 2010. The soldiers, who referred to themselves as the "Kill Team", were members of the 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, and 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. They were based at FOB Ramrod in Maiwand, from Kandahar Province of Afghanistan. The movie THE KILL TEAM states only five soldiers were involved in the murders of at least three innocent Afghan civilians, but there were actually twelve. The twelve American soldiers charged with crimes ranging from using illegal drugs, impeding a criminal investigation, manslaughter and premeditated murder. Charges also included physically attacking the lone soldier who acted honorably by reporting the illegal killings. Eleven of the twelve soldiers charged with crimes were convicted.

In THE KILL TEAM, Skarsgard portrays US Army Sergeant Deeks, a fictional character based on real events, who was convicted of murdering innocent civilians. In GENERATION KILL, Skarsgard portrays Sergeant Brad "Iceman" Colbert, a real life member of the United States Marine Corps, who served honorably.
