Tony was a continuing character on the original NCIS (2003) until 2016,

TVLine reported in April 2021 that this spinoff may feature a woman in the starring role. They said A CBS rep declined to comment, but sources confirm that the character, tentatively named "Jane Tennant," will also break ground on-screen, serving as the first NCIS Special Agent in Charge.
