Maurice was educated in the Princeton, New Jersey public school system and received his BA degree from Rider College of Trenton, New Jersey and an MBA from Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia.
He was united in holy matrimony to Kimberly Elise Trammel on October 20, 1989 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. From this union, two children were born - Aja Arial and Jaelarose. Moving from Minneapolis to Los Angeles in 1994, Maurice later embarked upon a new-found career - photography - which became an avenue for "self-expression and artistry. " Forming his company MTalent Photography, Maurice was able to work in the entertainment industry and travel to different parts of the world, capturing the enduring strength, spirit and beauty of people. He shared his series of photos in public exhibits and with friends. In addition to his love for photography, Maurice enjoyed volunteering at Butterfly's school, St. James Episcopal School, where he directed The Village Family Praise Team.
