According to Variety in 2014, in an article penned by Peter Caranicas, deputy editor at the Hollywood trade magazine, he recaps some of the projects Janusz Kaminski worked as a cinematographer on. Then he caps the paragraph with the following line, "His next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie." Kaminski is a long time collaborator for Steven Spielberg as his cinematographer. If Kaminski is in fact already planning to serve as cinematographer on Indiana Jones 5, then work on the film must be further along than any of us realize. Indiana Jones 5 rumors have been swirling around for several years but this was the first mention about the project's future.
"I'm very, very excited about it... I rewatched Raiders of the Lost Ark the other day, it is so well-done and so charming, and it's such great storytelling. So yes it's a great honor to be part of that series that I grew up with... I'm in a lucky position where they let me read the script before, and yes, it was everything I wished it to be, so that was just great." - Mads Mikkelsen, 05/05/2021 (interview for Adam Chitwood, Collider).

"If Nazis are back, I'm back. But that's not necessarily the theme of the new Indiana Jones script. Outside of the "Indiana Jones" films, Harrison Ford is famous for playing Han Solo in the "Star Wars" saga. In Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays Lando Calrissian's droid L3-37, who is eventually integrated into and becomes the "brain" of Han's starship, the Millennium Falcon.
James Mangold confirmed on Twitter that Phoebe Waller Bridge will not replace Indiana Jones at the end of the movie. Quote: "No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. Not in any script. Not in any cut. Never discussed."
