In Star Cinema's forthcoming romance-comedy offering, Gimik, The Reunion, directed by Laurenti Dyogi, Jolina and Marvin are cast with "experimental" loveteams, such as that of Diether Ocampo (who is also sometimes paired off with Claudine Baretto) and Giselle Toengi, and Bojo Molina and Mylene Dizon.
The movie, based upon the hit ABS-CBN youth-oriented TV series which has folded up months ago, also stars Rico Yan this time on "solo" flight.
Loveteaming definitely adds color and drama to any TV show or movie, not only because the handsome pairs brighten up the screen (big or small) but also because their played-up romances, real or imagined, touch a nostalgic string in the hearts of movie fans.
In Gimik, The Reunion, the barkada gets together again after one year. So much water has gone under the bridge, so to speak, and they realize how time quickly flies when they sit down to exchange views and swap stories about what has happened to each of them during the time they were far apart.
Marvin (as Joey) and Jolina (as Ese), are still a happy couple like they used to be back on campus, althpugh their relationship is aversely affected by Joey's cyber-friend named Sweetiepie.
Diether (as Gary) and Giselle (as Gina) are rocked by doubts about their impending marriage, with Giselle almost certain that she can't give Diether the child that he already wants because of her fertility problem.
Bojo (as Brian) the aspiring photographer and Mylene (as Melanie) the future nurse are going steady, never mind if he's annoyed by his domineering mom's insistence for him to drop photography and concenterate on his medical studies while Mylene realizes that she can't stand the sight of blood and can't therefore hope to be a good nurse.
Rico (as Ricky) is the bar-restaurant-owner where the reunion is held.
Now, will Gimik, The Reunion bring forth a new loveteam? Who will they be?
