François Chaignaud French Dancer, Choreographer, Singer & Writer....François Chaignaudborn in 1983 in Rennes, is a French dancer, choreographer, singer and writer. He is particularly known for his collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Cecilia Bengolea within their company Vlovajob Pru, founded in 2007. François Chaignaud studied dance from the age of six. Heearned a diplomain 2003 from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Paris, he collaborates soon after with several choreographers, such as Boris Charmatz, Emmanuelle Huynh, Alain Buffard and Gilles Jobin.ThemesFrom He’s One that Goes to Sea for Nothing but to Make him sick (2004) to Думи мої – Dumy Moyi (2013), he has created performances in which dance and singing intersect, in a wide variety of environments and at the meeting points of many inspirations. His curiosity for history has driven him to initiatevarious collaborations:notably with legendary drag queen Rumi Missabu of the Cockettes, cabaret performer Jérôme Marin (Sous l’ombrelle, 2011), artist Marie-Caroline Hominal (Duchesses, 2009), fashion designers Romain Brau and Charlie Le Mindu, visual artist Théo Mercier (Radio Vinci Park, 2016), photographer Donatien Veismann and videast Cesar Vayssié. In collaboration with artist Nino Laisné, he has created a new piece entitled Romances Inciertos : Un autre Orlando, bringing together four instrumentalists around various ambiguous motifs of genre from the choreographic and vocal Iberian repertoire. He is currentlydoing researchon the Antique Christian song repertoire as well as Hildegard Von Bingen pieces in collaboration with Marie-Pierre Brébant. He isalso creating a piecefor the Carte Blanche Ballet (Norway) in collaboration with Romain Brau, to be premiered in May 2018.Career In 2007he founded the company Vlovajob Pru with choreographer and performer Cecilia Bengolea. They collaborate together on many creations such as Pâquerette (2008), Sylphides (2009), or Dub Love (2013).In 2016François Chaignaud collaborated with the visual artist Théo Mercier then, in 2017 was born Romances inciertos, another Orlando in collaboration with the artist Nino Laisné, which will be presented during the 72nd edition of the Festival d'Avignon. Thesame yearhe participated in the reopening of the cabaret Madame Arthur , for which he performs occasionally. In 2018 he created Soufflette, a piece for Carte Blanche, National Ballet of Norway in collaboration with couturier Romain Brau. At the end ofSeptember 2020, the Maison de la Musique in Nanterre hosted the premiere of GOLD SHOWER, the fruit of a long collaboration with the Japanese butō dancer Akaji Maro. He also createdthe solo Un Bolero at the Philharmonie de Paris on September 26, a show choreographed with Dominique Brun and the Les Siècles orchestra, based on the work of Bronislava Nijinska.In 2021he founded the structure Mandorle Productions, which affirms his desire to pursue an artistic approach marked by numerous collaborations.He is currentlypreparing tumulus, a sung and danced piece for 13 performers, co-signed with Geoffroy Jourdain (Les Cris de Paris), which will be presented in May 2022.
