Her vocal range is contralto.

Initially, Ana started off by singing in bars.

In order to build her professional career as a singer, she relocated from Minas Gerais and moved to Rio de Janeiro.

Singing came to her naturally as her grandmother, aunt, and uncle were all musicians.

Growing up, Ana would listen to music from Chico Buarque, João Bosco, Maria Bethânia, Nina Simone, Björk, and Alanis Morissette.

She has a dog named Chicó da Ana Carolina.

Ana recorded the #1 Portuguese cover of Damien Rice‘s song, The Blower’s Daughter.

She released her debut self-titled studio album on November 2, 1999. From there, she went on to release several other albums including Ana Rita Joana Iracema e Carolina, Estampado, Dois Quartos, and N9ve.
