Arthur J. Dewey is a teacher, writer, translator and commentator with particular distinction as a New Testament scholar and specialist on the Historical Jesus. He is a professor of Theology in the University Scholars honors department at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he began teaching in 1980.

Francis Anthony Arlinghaus (June 13, 1905 – March 8, 1993) was an American historian.

Everette "Rhett" Maddox (1944–1989) was a poet who in 1979 co-founded (with Robert Stock and Franz Heldner) the longest-running poetry-reading series in the South at the Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and after studying at the University of Alabama, became Poet-in-Residence at Xavier University in 1975. His work has been published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review. His work was also included in "Umpteen Ways of Looking at a Possum: Critical and Creative Responses to Everette Maddox", edited by Grace Bauer and Julie Kane. His ashes are buried in the patio behind the Maple Leaf Bar under a stone that reads: "Everette Maddox – He was a mess."

Joseph A. Bracken, S.J. (March 22, 1930 – April 13, 2024) was an American philosopher and Catholic theologian. Bracken was a proponent of process philosophy and process theology of Alfred North Whitehead and Charles Hartshorne. Much of his work is devoted to a synthesis of revealed religion and Christian trinitarian doctrines with a revised process theology. Bracken introduced a field theoretic approach to process metaphysics.

John (Johann) Bernhard Stallo (March 16, 1823 – January 6, 1900) was a German-American academic, jurist, philosopher, and ambassador.

Joanna Isabel Mayer (March 6, 1904 – February 28, 1991) was an American mathematician and educator. She was Marquette University's first doctoral student in mathematics and one of the few American women to earn a PhD in mathematics before World War II.
