The group presents an annual set of film awards for "extraordinary accomplishment in film" in a ceremony held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The organization, founded in 2007 by Danny Minton and Nick Nicholson, includes 25 film critics for print, radio, television, and internet publications in the greater Houston area.

    The Irvington Group was a group of artists residing in Irvington, a suburb on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana, during the 1920s and 1930s. This group of artists included some of the most well-known Hoosier artists, such as William Forsyth and Clifton Wheeler. Fifteen other professional resident artists belonged to the Irvington group, including Simon Baus, Paul Baus, Carolyn Bradley, Alice Cook, Robert Craig, Constance Forsyth, Martha Lee Frost, Helene Hibben, William Kaeser, Dorothy Morlan, Frederick Polley, Robert Selby, Hilah Wheeler, and Charles Yeager.

    The Plaza de la Raza (Place of the People) is a multidisciplinary cultural arts and educational center located in Lincoln Park in East Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1970 by actress Margo Albert and trade union activist Frank S. López. The center was originally divided into two arms, one providing educational classes for children and adults and the other a professional theater training group. By the twenty-first century a full curriculum in theater, dance, music and arts was provided to hundreds of students yearly.

    Upstart Associates, sometimes known as Upstart Studios, was the name of an artists' studio on West 29th Street in New York City formed in late 1978 by four comic book creators. These artists were Howard Chaykin, Walt Simonson, Val Mayerik, and Jim Starlin. The membership of the studio changed over time, eventually adding James Sherman, Frank Miller, and Gary Hallgren as previous members left (there were never more than four studio members at any one time). In addition, future comics professionals Peter Kuper and Dean Haspiel worked as assistants at Upstart before they began getting professional work.
