Theodor "Theo" Albrecht Jr. (born 1950) is a German billionaire businessman, the son of Theo Albrecht, co-founder of Aldi. As of January 2018, Albrecht's net worth is estimated by Forbes as $22.4 billion.

Theodor Paul Albrecht (28 March 1922 – 24 July 2010) was a German entrepreneur. He established the discount supermarket chain Aldi with his brother Karl Albrecht. In 2010, Theo was ranked by Forbes as the 31st richest person in the world, with a net worth of $16.7 billion.

Joseph Hardin Coulombe (June 3, 1930 – February 28, 2020) was an American entrepreneur. He was a graduate of Stanford Business School and was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda. He founded the grocery store chain Trader Joe's in 1967.

On July 21, 2018, a hostage incident occurred at a Trader Joe's store in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. 28-year-old Gene Evin Atkins, armed and fleeing police, crashed into a utility pole and ran into the nearby store. He fired at two pursuing police officers during the pursuit and after the crash; the two officers returned fire in Atkins's direction, hitting and killing a store employee, Melyda Corado, and hitting Atkins in the left arm. After escaping into Trader Joe's, Atkins barricaded himself and the rest of the store's patrons and employees inside the store. By the end of the incident, Atkins was arrested for various criminal felonies.

Aldi (stylised as ALDI) (German pronunciation: ) is the common company brand name of two German multinational family-owned discount supermarket chains operating over 12,000 stores in 18 countries. The chain was founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946, when they took over their mother's store in Essen. The business was split into two separate groups in 1960, that later became Aldi Nord (initially Northern West Germany), headquartered in Essen, and Aldi Süd (initially Southern West Germany), headquartered in neighbouring Mülheim.

Robert Berning (January 25, 1935 – July 19, 2008) was an American grocer and principal wine buyer for Trader Joe's specialty grocery store chain beginning in the 1970s. He was credited with introducing American consumers to low-cost, bargain imported wines while working with Trader Joe's.

Dan Bane (born c.1947) is the Chairman and CEO of Trader Joe's. Bane graduated in 1969 from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. While at USC he was a member of the National Champion Trojan baseball team. His brother, Eddie Bane, is a former major league baseball player and in 2010 was the Director of Scouting for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

John Shields (23 March 1932 - 31 October 2014) was an American businessman who was the CEO of the American grocery store chain Trader Joe's from 1988 to 2001. Shields was voted the Master Entrepreneur of the Los Angeles Area in 1993.

Pirate Joe's was a specialty grocery store in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, owned by Michael Hallatt. Its inventory consisted entirely of store brand products resold from locations of the U.S.-based grocery chain Trader Joe's, which does not operate any locations in Canada. Despite the high costs of operating the store because of its business model, the store became popular with residents who enjoyed the opportunity to purchase some of the distinct private label products offered by Trader Joe's.
