    Eli Young Band is an American country music band composed of members who met while students at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas: Mike Eli (vocals, guitar), James Young (guitar), Jon Jones (bass guitar), and Chris Thompson (drums). They released their self-titled debut album in 2002, followed by the Carnival records release Level in 2005. Their third album, Jet Black & Jealous, was released in 2008 by Universal South Records. A second major-label album, Life at Best, was released in 2011 by Republic Nashville, with 10,000 Towns following in early 2014. The band has charted eight times on the Billboard country charts, with three of their singles having reached number 1: "Crazy Girl", which was the top country song of 2011 according to Billboard Year-End, along with "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" and "Drunk Last Night".

The name of the band came from the combination of the original band members' names, Grady Cross (guitar), Cody Canada (guitar, vocals), and Randy Ragsdale (drums), and Matt Wiedmann. Jeremy Plato's (bass) name was not involved in the band naming. The band was popular for its distinct sound that did not have a specific genre. Asleep at the Wheel's former frontman Ray Benson said in a 2010 Episode of The Texas Music Scene, "They (Ragweed) have proudly carried the Oklahoma Red Dirt banner for going on 15 years now, but make no mistake about it, these guys are a rock band."

    The Great Divide is an American Red Dirt/Texas Country music group, originally from Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Great Divide formed its own record label, publishing company and operating company, and began recording. The group's first two albums, Goin' For Broke and Break In The Storm, were independent releases. Atlantic Records signed the group and re-released Break In The Storm as well as the band's third album, Revolutions. Remain, the group's fifth album, was released independently at the end of 2002.

The initial 60 songs recorded in a Millstadt, Illinois studio supplied the material for the quieter, more emotional Navigational on Idol Records and the louder, lo-fi The Static vs. the Strings, Vol. 1 on Quality Park Records.
