Television drama

Turkish television drama (Turkish: televizyon dizileri) is a genre of television serial dramas, melodramas, comedy dramas, romantic dramas, thriller dramas, or action dramas produced in and broadcast from Turkey. Most dramas reflect Turkish culture and are the country's most well known economic and cultural exports. Turkey is the world's fastest growing television series exporter and has currently overtaken both Mexico and Brazil as the world's second highest television series exporter after the United States. Turkish television dramas are among the world's lengthiest, ranging between 120 and 150 minutes per episode. The television industry has played a pivotal role in increasing Turkey's popularity in Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa.

Philippine television drama, also known as teleserye, Filipino telenovelas or P-drama, is a form of melodramatic serialized fiction in television in the Philippines. Teleserye is derived from two Filipino words: "tele", which is short for "telebisyón" (television) and "sérye" (series).

Arab television drama or Arab soap opera (also known as musalsal (Arabic: مسلسل‎), plural musalsalat) is a television form of melodramatic serialized fiction. The musalsalat are similar in style to Latin American telenovelas. They are often historical epics about Islamic figures or love stories involving class conflict and intrigue. The word musalsal literally means "chained, continuous".

BBC television dramas have been produced and broadcast since even before the public service company had an officially established television broadcasting network in the United Kingdom. As with any major broadcast network, drama forms an important part of its schedule, with many of the BBC's top-rated programmes being from this genre.

Japanese television drama (テレビドラマ terebi dorama, television drama), also called dorama (ドラマ), are television programs that are a staple of Japanese television and are broadcast daily. All major TV networks in Japan produce a variety of drama series including romance, comedy, detective stories, horror, jidaigeki, thriller, and many others. Single episode, or "tanpatsu" dramas that are usually two hours in length are also broadcast. For special occasions, there may be a one or two-episode drama with a specific theme, such as one produced in 2015 for the 70-year anniversary of the end of World War II.

Korean dramas (Korean: 한국드라마; RR: hanguk drama), or K-dramas, are television series (Korean: 드라마; RR: deurama) in Korean language, made in South Korea.

Chinese television dramas (simplified Chinese: 中国电视连续剧) or mainland Chinese television dramas (simplified Chinese: 中国大陆电视剧) are similar to television dramas in North America, but are often longer. China produces more television dramas than any other country. It made more than 15,000 episodes in 2014. The most popular genre of dramas in China is fantasy romance, with 47 of the 50 most watched dramas in the country in 2016 being in this genre. Chinese television dramas are popular and regularly broadcast on TV throughout Asia, particularly in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

Tamil television soap opera or Tamil serials (Tamil: தமிழ் நெடுந்தொடர்கள்) are a popular genre of Tamil language television produced in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore. All major [TV networks in India produce a variety of drama series including family, comedy, romance, history stories, horror, devotional, fantasy stories and many others.
