Mary Gordon (born Mary Gilmour; 16 May 1882 – 23 August 1963) was a Scottish actress, long in the United States, who mainly played housekeepers and mothers, most notably the landlady Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes series of movies of the 1940s starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Her body of work included nearly 300 films between 1925 and 1950.
Elspeth Dudgeon (4 December 1871 – 11 December 1955) was a Scottish character actress. With a career spanning nearly two decades, she was involved in 67 films, only 14 of which included her name in the credits.
Lady Veronica Gibson (née Waggett, 21 January 1937 – 27 January 2022) was a Scottish arts patron who was the President of Scottish Opera. She has been described as "one of the best-connected women in Scotland" and “a beloved fixture of Scotland’s cultural landscape for six decades". She trained as a dancer and met her husband at Sadlers Wells. They married in 1958. Lady Gibson played a key role in Scottish behind the scenes development of Scottish Opera when her husband founded it in 1962. She became President of Scottish Opera in 2013 and remained so until her death.
