Andrew William Stevenson Marr (born 31 July 1959) is a British journalist and a television and radio presenter. Beginning his career as a political commentator, he subsequently edited The Independent newspaper (1996–1998) and was political editor of BBC News (2000–2005). He began hosting a political programme—Sunday AM, now called The Andrew Marr Show—on Sunday mornings on BBC One from September 2005. In 2002, Marr took over as host of BBC Radio 4's long-running Start the Week Monday morning discussion programme.

George Brown (November 29, 1818 – May 9, 1880) was a Scottish-Canadian journalist, politician and one of the Fathers of Confederation; attended the Charlottetown (September 1864) and Quebec (October 1864) conferences. A noted Reform politician, he is best known as the founder and editor of the Toronto Globe, Canada's most influential newspaper at the time. He was an articulate champion of the grievances and anger of Upper Canada (Ontario). He played a major role in securing national unity. His career in active politics faltered after 1865, but he remained a powerful spokesman for the Liberal Party promoting westward expansion and opposing the policies of Conservative Prime Minister John A. Macdonald.

William Wilson (13 November 1844 – 1 June 1912) was a late 19th-century British journalist, swimming instructor and coach, and contributor to the scientific techniques behind competitive swimming. In 1883, Wilson published "The Swimming Instructor," one of the first books on swimming to define modern concepts of stroke efficiency, training, racing turns and water safety.

James Gordon Bennett Sr. (September 1, 1795 – June 1, 1872) was the founder, editor and publisher of the New York Herald and a major figure in the history of American newspapers.

Alan Connor (born 1972) is a British writer, journalist and television presenter. First seen on Channel 4's youth entertainment programme The Word in 1995, he later appeared on The Big Breakfast and BBC Radio Five Live and was a BBC News correspondent, appearing on BBC News 24 and The Daily Politics.

Alexander Gardner (October 17, 1821 – December 10, 1882) was a Scottish photographer who immigrated to the United States in 1856, where he began to work full-time in that profession. He is best known for his photographs of the American Civil War, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, and the execution of the conspirators to Lincoln's assassination.

Ewen MacAskill (born 1951) is a Scottish journalist. He worked for 22 years on The Guardian, ending his career in September 2018 as the newspaper's defence and intelligence correspondent. MacAskill was involved in preparing the publication disclosures from Edward Snowden of the activities of the American National Security Agency (NSA).

John Robertson Allan (4 September 1906 – 24 October 1986) was a Scottish journalist, broadcaster, author, and farmer. He is known for his books about agricultural life in Scotland such as the semi-autobiographical Farmer's Boy (1935) and the posthumously published novel Green Heritage about the traditions and challenges of tenant farming in the north-east of Scotland. He also wrote a number of non-fiction works on topographical subjects and country life such as The Lowlands of Scotland (1951) for the Festival of Britain's About Britain series.

Stuart Campbell (born 27 October 1967) is a video game designer, pro-Scottish independence blogger and former video game journalist. Born in Stirling, he moved to Bath in 1991 to work for computer magazine Amiga Power as a staff writer, where he gained attention for his video game reviews. He has lived in Somerset ever since, and made further contributions to a number of publications both within the video game industry and in the popular media.

Alexander Allardyce (21 January 1846 – 23 April 1896) was a Scottish author, journalist and historian. He wrote for Friend of India, Indian Statesman, Fraser's Magazine, the Spectator among other publications, and was at one time the editor of the Ceylon Times.
