After beating the Phoenix Suns in 5 games and the New Orleans Hornets in 7, the Spurs were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. They failed to gain back-to-back titles for the fifth time in nine years.

The Spurs' season ended with a Game 7 first round loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, after a layup by Chris Paul with 1 second on the clock.
