Monarchs of Tikal

24th Ruler was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He ruled in around the year 645. Information about this ajaw and his predecessor 23rd Ruler are scarce. K'inich Muwaan Jol II is estimated to be the best candidate for the 23rd or 24th Ruler as might have been the father of 25th ajaw Nuun Ujol Chaak.

Dark Sun (fl. 810), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He ruled c.810 and was probably the son of Nuun Ujol K'inich. The monuments associated with Dark Sun are: Stela 24; Altar 7; Temple 3 Lintel 2?.

Jasaw Chan Kʼawiil II also known as Stela 11 Ruler, (fl. 869), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He ruled c.869. The monuments associated with Jasaw Chan Kʼawiil II are: Stela 11 and Altar 11.

Foliated Jaguar, also known as Scroll Ahau Jaguar, (fl. 2nd/3rd century) was ajaw of the Maya city-state of Tikal.

Kʼinich Muwaan Jol, (died 359) was ajaw of the Maya city-state of Tikal. He was father of Chak Tok Ichʼaak I and he ruled until 359.

Sihyaj Chan Kʼawiil I, (fl. c. 307) was ajaw ("lord") of the Maya city-state of Tikal. He was son of his predecessor Animal Headdress and Lady Skull. The monument associated with Sihyaj Chan Kʼawiil I is El Encanto Stela I.

Nuun Ujol Kʼinich (fl. 800?), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He ruled sometime between 794 and 810 and he was probably father of Dark Sun.

28th Ruler was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He ruled c.766-768. Little is known about this ruler. He was a son of 27th ruler of Tikal Yik'in Chan K'awiil and elder brother of his successor 29th ruler Yax Nuun Ahiin II.

Yikʼin Chan Kʼawiil also known as Ruler B, Yaxkin Caan Chac and Sun Sky Rain, (before 734-c.746/766?), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He took the throne on December 8, 734.

Animal Skull, also known as Lizard Head, Animal Skull II and Ete II (before 562 – c.), was an ajaw of the Maya city of Tikal. He took the throne after 562, reigning until c.. He was a son of Fire Cross and Lady Hand Sky of Bahlam.
