John Kennedy Twyman (May 21, 1934 – May 30, 2012) was an American professional basketball player and sports broadcaster. Twyman is a namesake of the NBA's Twyman–Stokes Teammate of the Year Award. Twyman was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1983.

Samuel Salvador Ranzino (June 21, 1927 – March 13, 1994) was an American college and professional basketball player. He was an All-American guard at North Carolina State University and played one season in the NBA with the Rochester Royals.

Charles Frick Darling (March 20, 1930 – May 1, 2021) was an American basketball player who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. Born in Denison, Iowa, Darling played collegiately at the University of Iowa. He was member of the American basketball team that won the Olympic gold medal in 1956. He is a member of the Des Moines Register's Iowa Sports Hall of Fame.

Robert Brantley Burrow (June 29, 1934 – January 3, 2019) was an American basketball player. The son of a lumberjack, Burrow was considered the nation's No. 1 junior college player in 1954 at Lon Morris, where he scored 2,191 points.

William A. Gabor (May 13, 1922 – June 4, 2019) was an American professional basketball player. A 5'11" guard/forward known as "Billy the Bullet", Gabor played collegiately at Syracuse University in the 1940s. He averaged 12.1 points per game during his freshman year before joining the United States Army Air Corps in 1943. He returned to Syracuse in 1945 and played three more seasons, finishing with a (then) team-record 1,344 career points. Gabor's jersey was retired by Syracuse University on March 1, 2009.

Kenneth Robert Sears (August 17, 1933 – April 23, 2017) was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was the first basketball player on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine, appearing on the December 20, 1954 issue during his senior season in college.

Frank Benjamin Saul Jr. (February 16, 1924 – November 7, 2019) was an American National Basketball Association (NBA) player.

Robert Francis Wanzer (June 4, 1921 – January 23, 2016) was an American professional basketball player and coach. A five time All-Star and three time All-NBA Second Team selection, Wanzer played his entire professional career for the Rochester Royals of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and National Basketball Association (NBA). He won an NBA championship with the Royals in 1951. During his final two years as a player, he served as the team's player-coach. After he retired from playing in 1957, he remained as a coach with the Royals for one season, before he became the head coach of the St. John Fisher Cardinals college basketball team in 1963. He stayed in the role with the college for 24 years until his retirement in 1987. Wanzer was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987.

Maurice Stokes (June 17, 1933 – April 6, 1970) was an American professional basketball player. He played for the Cincinnati/Rochester Royals of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1955 to 1958. Stokes was a three-time NBA All-Star, a three-time All-NBA Second Team member and the 1956 NBA Rookie of the Year. His career — and later his life — was cut short by a debilitating brain injury and paralysis.

Robert Van Sickle McKeen (November 30, 1933 – December 31, 1999) was an American basketball player, best known for his All-American college career at the University of California, Berkeley.
