    The Kama (KA-mə, KAH-mə; Russian: Кама Udmurt: Кам), also known as the Chulman (chool-MAHN; Tatar: Чулман / Çulman), is a 1,805-kilometre (1,122 mi) long river in Russia. It has a drainage basin of 507,000 square kilometres (196,000 sq mi). It is the longest left tributary of the Volga and the largest one in discharge. At their confluence, in fact, the Kama is even larger in terms of discharge than the Volga.

    The Birlya (Russian: Бирля; Tatar: Бәрле), a tributary of the Sviyaga, is a river in the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The name has its origin from the Tatar language words bure and ile which mean "the river on the place of wolves" or Finno-Ugric languages word hop. There is information that Cheremisa people (Mari people) used to raise hop.

It is 259 kilometres (161 mi) long, of which 97 kilometres (60 mi) are in Tatarstan, and its drainage basin covers 8,510 square kilometres (3,290 sq mi). It begins near Malye Oshvortsy, Udmurtia and falls to the Nizhnekamsk Reservoir, Kama River, near Golyushurma tract in Agryzsky District, Tatarstan.

It is 176 kilometres (109 mi) long, of which 121 kilometres (75 mi) are in Tatarstan, and its drainage basin covers 2,480 square kilometres (960 sq mi). It begins in Chuvashia and flows to the Sviyaga 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Burunduki.

    Bolshoy Cheremshan (Russian: Большой Черемшан, literally Greater Cheremshan, Tatar: Олы Чирмешән) is a river in Russia, a left tributary of the Volga between the Kama and Samara. It is 336 kilometres (209 mi) long, and has a drainage basin of 11,500 square kilometres (4,400 sq mi). It flows southwest to the Volga near Dimitrovgrad. The main inflows are the Bolshaya Sulcha and Maly Cheremshan. The maximal discharge is 1,660 cubic metres per second (59,000 cu ft/s) (1979), and the minimal mineralization is 600-800 mg/l. The riverbed is meandering and the meadows are wide. From around 1650 the Trans-Kama Line of forts ran along or near the Cheremshan.

    The Sviyaga (Russian: Свияга; Tatar: Зөя; Chuvash: Сĕве, Sĕve) is a river in the Ulyanovsk Oblast and Tatarstan, a right tributary of the Volga. It is 375 kilometres (233 mi) long, and its drainage basin covers 16,700 square kilometres (6,400 sq mi). The Sviyaga flows into the Sviyaga Cove of the Kuybyshev Reservoir, west of Kazan. It freezes up in November or December and stays icebound until April or May. Major tributaries are the Arya, Birlya, Bula, Karla, Kubnya, Sulitsa and Tosha rivers.
