Religion in Tibet

Ngok Loden Sherab or Ngok Lotsawa Loden Sherab (Tibetan: རྔོག་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་བློ་ལྡན་ཤེས་རབ, Wylie: rngog lo ts'a ba blo ldan shes rab) (1059–1109) - Important in the transmission of Buddhism from India to Tibet. One of the most renowned translators in Tibetan history and traditionally known as one of the "Ten Pillars of Tibetan Buddhism" (ka chen bcu). Also known as Matiprajna (Sanskrit).

Kunkhyen Pema Karpo (Tibetan: ཀུན་མཁྱེན་པདྨ་དཀར་པོ་, Wylie: kun-mkhyen pad-ma dkar-po) (1527–1592 CE) was the fourth Gyalwang Drukpa, head of the Drukpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He was the most famous and learned of all the Gyalwang Drukpas. During his lifetime, he was known as the grand lama amongst all grand lamas, and was a teacher to many lamas and disciples all over Tibet.

Bon or Bön (Tibetan: བོན་, Wylie: bon, ZYPY: Pön, Lhasa dialect:), also known as Yungdrung Bon (Tibetan: གཡུང་དྲུང་བོན་, Wylie: gyung drung bon, ZYPY: Yungchung Pön, lit. 'eternal Bon'), is the indigenous Tibetan religion which shares many similarities and influences with Tibetan Buddhism. It initially developed in the tenth and eleventh centuries but retains elements from earlier Tibetan religious traditions. Bon is a significant minority religion in Tibet, especially in the east, as well as in the surrounding Himalayan regions.

Lhamo Latso or Lha-mo La-tso (Tibetan: ལྷ་མོའི་བླ་མཚོ།, Wylie: Lha mo'i bla mtsho) is a small oval oracle lake where senior Tibetan monks of the Gelug sect go for visions to assist in the discovery of reincarnations of the Dalai Lamas. Other pilgrims also come to seek visions. It is considered to be the most sacred lake in Tibet.

The Kagyu school, also transliterated as Kagyü, or Kagyud (Tibetan: བཀའ་བརྒྱུད།, Wylie: bka' brgyud), which translates to "Oral Lineage" or "Whispered Transmission" school, is one of the main schools (chos lugs) of Tibetan (or Himalayan) Buddhism. The Kagyu lineages trace themselves back to the 11th century Indian Mahasiddhas Naropa, Maitripa and the yogini Niguma, via their student Marpa Lotsawa (1012–1097), who brought their teachings to Tibet. Marpa's student Milarepa was also an influential poet and teacher.

Kyunglung (alternatively Khyunglung, Qulong, or Qulongcun) is a village located within Tibet. Known as the "Silver Palace of Garuda Valley" (Tibetan: ཁྱུང་ལུང་དངུལ་མཁར།, Wylie: khyung lung dngul mkhar, Chinese: 琼隆银城), Kyunglung Ngüka is situated southwest of Mount Kailash (Wylie: gangs ti se). It is associated with palaces found in the upper Sutlej Valley, which were once part of the capital city of the ancient Zhangzhung kingdom.
