Prefectures of French departments

Paris ( ) is the capital and most populous city of France, with an estimated population of 2,175,601 residents as of 2018, in an area of more than 105 square kilometres (41 square miles). Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of Europe's major centres of finance, diplomacy, commerce, fashion, gastronomy, science and arts. The City of Paris is the centre and seat of government of the Île-de-France, or Paris Region, which has an estimated population of 12,174,880, or about 18 percent of the population of France as of 2017. The Paris Region had a GDP of €709 billion ($808 billion) in 2017. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit Worldwide Cost of Living Survey in 2018, Paris was the second most expensive city in the world, after Singapore, and ahead of Zürich, Hong Kong, Oslo and Geneva. Another source ranked Paris as most expensive, on a par with Singapore and Hong Kong, in 2018.

Valence (, Occitan: Valença ) is a commune in southeastern France, the capital of the Drôme department and within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is situated on the left bank of the Rhône, about 100 kilometres (62 mi) south of Lyon, along the railway line that runs from Paris to Marseille.

Orléans (, , ) is a prefecture and commune in north-central France, about 111 kilometres (69 miles) southwest of Paris. It is the capital of the Loiret department and of the Centre-Val de Loire region.

Évry-Courcouronnes is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France, prefecture of the department of Essonne.

La Rochepot (French: La Rochepot) is a commune in France in Bourgogne, Côte-d'Or department. It is a part of Canton of Arnay-le-Duc. The commune arrondissement is Beaune. It has a hillside chateau on the D973 road between Beaune and Nolay on the way to Saisy.

Guéret (Occitan: Garait) is a commune and the prefecture of the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France.

Mont-de-Marsan (Gascon: Lo Mont de Marçan) is a commune and capital of the Landes department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France.

Lons-le-Saunier is a commune and capital of the Jura department in eastern France.

Privas (Occitan: Privàs ) is a commune of France, capital of the Ardèche department. It is the smallest administrative centre of any department in France. It is the fifth-largest commune in the Ardèche, behind Annonay, Aubenas, Guilherand-Granges, and Tournon-sur-Rhône. It was the location of the 1629 Siege of Privas. Today Privas is known for the purée made from the local chestnuts, and for its sweetened marron glacé.

Rodez (Occitan: Rodés ) is a small city and commune in the South of France, about 150 km northeast of Toulouse. It is the prefecture of the department of Aveyron in the region of Occitanie. Rodez is the seat of the Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Rodez [fr], of the First Constituency of Aveyron as well as of the general Council of Aveyron.
