Political prisoners in Finland

Taneli Typpö (2 March 1878, Virolahti - 17 March 1960) was a Finnish farmer and politician. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1909 to 1918 and again from 1922 to 1929, representing the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP). In 1918 he was imprisoned for having sided with the Reds during the Finnish Civil War.

Yrjö Esalas Emanuel Mäkelin (1 June 1875 – 18 September 1923), a shoemaker, was Finnish Left-Socialist, journalist, Member of Parliament 1908–1910, 1913–1918.

Arvo “Poika” Tuominen (5 September 1894 – 27 May 1981) was a Finnish communist revolutionary and later a social democratic journalist, politician and author. Tuominen was given his nickname, "Poika", in 1920 because of his boyish look; poika means "boy" in Finnish.

Lieutenant Colonel Paavo Susitaival (9 February 1896 in Helsinki – 27 December 1993), born Paavo Sivén, was a Finnish author, soldier and politician. Paavo Sivén and his brother, Bobi Sivén were prominent figures in the Finnish interwar Nationalist movement. Paavo had acquired his reputation smuggling volunteers to Germany to enlist in the 27. Imperial Jaeger Battalion; Bobi gained his by being the last alderman of Porajärvi municipality before the ratification of the Treaty of Tartu who shot himself rather than acknowledge the transfer of Porajärvi and Repola to the Soviet Union.

Hella Wuolijoki (née Ella Marie Murrik; 22 July 1886 – 2 February 1954), also known by the pen name Juhani Tervapää, was an Estonian-born Finnish writer known for her Niskavuori series.

Kaarle August Kankari (28 January 1889 – 5 June 1948) was a Finnish trade unionist, politician and member of the Parliament of Finland, the national legislature. A member of the Socialist Workers' Party, he represented Uusimaa between September 1922 and October 1923.

Aleksander Allila (born 14 April 1890) was a Finnish politician and member of the Parliament of Finland, the national legislature. A member of the Socialist Electoral Organisation of Workers and Smallholders, he represented Uusimaa between May 1924 and September 1927.

Emma "Emmi" Serafia Mäkelin (1 April 1874 – 6 August 1962) was a Finnish midwife and politician who served in the Parliament of Finland from 1922 until 1923. A member of the communist Socialist Workers' Party of Finland, she represented the western portion of the Kuopio Province.

Mauritz Rosenberg (1879–1941) was a Finnish politician who served as vice president and finance minister of the Terijoki government during the Finnish Democratic Republic.

Yrjö Aleksanteri Murto (24 August 1899 – 17 December 1963) was a Finnish communist politician and trade unionist.
