Polish emigrants to Austria

Teresa Zielewicz (25 February 1950 – 20 July 2011) was an Austrian handball player who played for the Austrian national team. She represented Austria at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She was born in Poland, but later became a naturalized Austrian citizen.

Stefanie Horovitz (1887–1942) (Stefania Horovitz or Stephanie Horowitz) was a Polish-Jewish chemist known for experimental work proving the existence of isotopes. Between approximately 1914-1918, she worked with Otto Hönigschmid at the Radium Institute of Vienna using analytical methods to demonstrate the first and second credible cases of isotopes in lead and thorium. Later she co-founded a home for children and young adults in need of psychological therapy. She was killed by Nazis at Treblinka extermination camp in 1942.

Andrzej Małysiak (born June 30, 1957) is a former Polish ice hockey player. He played for the Poland men's national ice hockey team at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. During the 1982 World Championship Group B tournament in Austria, Małysiak defected along with two other Polish players, Justyn Denisiuk and Bogusław Maj.

Ira Malaniuk (Ukrainian: Ірина Маланюк; Iryna Malanyuk; 29 January 1919 – 25 February 2009) was an Austrian operatic contralto of Ukrainian descent. She sang a wide range of roles, from Mozart to contemporary works.

Daniel Sikorski (born 2 November 1987) is an Austrian footballer who plays as a striker in Spain for Guijuelo.

Franciszek Trześniewski (died 1939) was an early 20th-century Polish gourmand and cook. Born in Kraków, at that time belonging to Western-Galicia (Austro-Hungarian-Monarchy), he is notable for the restaurant-bar he opened in Vienna in 1902, shortly before World War I. His spécialité de la maison were open sandwiches made of fresh, local dark bread cut into the typical rectangle-form with various spreads. After his death the bar was run by his daughter, Maria Trześniewska, who sold it in 1978.

Meshullam Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (28 August 1924 – 3 July 2014), commonly called "Reb Zalman" (full Hebrew name: Meshullam Zalman Hiyya ben Chaya Gittel veShlomo HaCohen), was one of the founders of the Jewish Renewal movement and an innovator in ecumenical dialogue.

Witold Silewicz (born 18 May 1921 in Rajsko, Poland - died 26 January 2007 in Vienna) – Polish-Austrian composer and Double bass player, probably best known for his instrumental arrangement of the Happy Birthday to You tune for Woodwind Quintet.

Adam Jankowski (born 1948 in Gdańsk, Poland) is an Austrian painter and professor at the Offenbach University of Art & Design. His studio is located in St. Pauli, Hamburg, Germany.

Kazimierz Łaski (December 15, 1921 – October 20, 2015) was a Polish-Austrian economist. During the antisemitic purge of 1968 Łaski had to leave Poland and moved to Austria, where he worked for the rest of his life and was widely recognized as a major contributor to Post-Keynesian economics.
