Petr Pithart

Petr Pithart's Cabinet was in power from 29 June 1990 to 2 July 1992. It was the first Czech government formed after democratic election. It originally consisted of Civic Forum (OF), Christian and Democratic Union (KDU-ČSL), Christian Democratic Party (KDS) and Movement for Autonomous Democracy–Party for Moravia and Silesia (HSD-SMS). Civic Forum was dissolved in 1991 and replaced by Civic Movement (OH) and Civic Democratic Party (ODS).

An election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 16 December 2000. Petr Pithart was elected the new President of the Senate.

An election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 4 December 2002. Petr Pithart was re-elected as the President of the Senate.

An election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 16 December 1998. Libuše Benešová was elected the new President, defeating the incumbent Petr Pithart.

An election of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic was held on 18 December 1996. Petr Pithart was elected the first President of the Senate. Pithart was a candidate of the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-CSL), and his election was opposed primarily by the Civic Democratic Party.

Indirect presidential elections were held in the Czech Republic in January and February 2003 to elect a new President. The Parliament of the Czech Republic failed to elect a candidate on the first two ballots on the 15 and 24 January. However, on the third round of the third ballot on 28 February, Václav Klaus was elected.

Petr Pithart (born 2 January 1941) is a Czech politician, lawyer and political scientist who served as Prime Minister of the Czech Republic (then a federal region of Czechoslovakia) from 6 February 1990 to 2 July 1992. He was also the Senator for Chrudim from 1996 to 2012 and served as President of the Senate from 8 January 1996 to 16 December 1998 and again from 19 December 2000 to 15 December 2004.
