The album debuted at the top spot of the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart with 79,282 copies on its first week of release, making it their seventh number-one album in Japan. The album also yielded its first number-one release on the Oricon Weekly Digital Albums chart with 7,396 downloads. The album comprises a total of twelve tracks, with three of them being released as maxi singles: "Tokyo Girl", "If You Wanna", and "Mugen Mirai", plus their respective B-sides "Houseki no Ame", "Everyday", and "Fusion", and six previously-unreleased tracks, with one of them being the album's promotional single, "Let Me Know".

It is the group's first release under Universal J and the fifth Yasutaka Nakata-produced album under the label, following Meg's Maverick (2010). The album was conceived while they were transitioning to Universal Music Japan, and started a sub-label entitled Perfume Records. This was their first album under their own label.

Triangle was officially announced at Perfume's Disco!Disco!Disco! concert, and was released on July 8, 2009 as a CD-only version and limited edition CD+DVD version, which featured promotional music videos and live performances. The album was recently released on iTunes worldwide along with the other, previously unavailable, albums of their career.
