Rudolf Lange (18 April 1910 – c. 23 February 1945) was a German SS functionary and police official during the Nazi era. With the invasion of the Soviet Union, he served in Einsatzgruppe A before becoming a commander in the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) and all RSHA personnel in Riga, Latvia. He attended the Wannsee Conference, and was largely responsible for implementing the murder of Latvia's Jewish population during Holocaust.

Angela Ranft (born 7 December 1969) is a German former cyclist. She competed in the women's individual road race at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Christa Luding-Rothenburger (née Rothenburger, born 4 December 1959) is a former speed skater and track cyclist. She was born in Weißwasser, East Germany. Luding is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and the first female to win a medal in both the Summer and Winter Games. She is the only athlete to win Winter and Summer Olympic medals in the same year (1988), a feat that is no longer possible due to the staggering of the Winter and Summer Olympic years. In speed skating, she is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, while she is an Olympic silver medallist in cycling.

Roland Hemmo (born 25 February 1946 in Weißwasser, East Germany) is a German actor and voice actor. Roland Hemmo is one of the most successful voice actors in the history of German cinema. He has worked for over 1000 Hollywood productions since 1978. Roland Hemmo lives in Berlin, is married with Heike in June 2016, and has two children, Sophie Johanna and Max.

Günter Schubert (18 April 1938 – 2 January 2008) was a German actor and voice actor. His son Alexander Schubert is also an actor. He was born in Weißwasser and died in Berlin.

Wilfried Sock (born 2 July 1944) is a German former ice hockey player, who competed for SG Dynamo Weißwasser. He played for the East Germany national ice hockey team at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.

Hartmut Nickel (16 November 1944 – 27 June 2019) was a German ice hockey player, who competed for SC Dynamo Berlin between 1963 and 1974. He played for the East Germany national ice hockey team at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.

Peter-Ekhard Gilow (13 March 1918 – 8 November 1992) was a highly decorated Major im Generalstab in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.

Jens Gusek (born 8 July 1965) is a German fencer. He competed in the team foil event for East Germany at the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Mirco Lüdemann (born December 15, 1973) is a retired German professional ice hockey defenceman.
