Delcídio do Amaral Gomez (born February 2, 1955) is a Brazilian politician. He represented Mato Grosso do Sul in the Federal Senate from 2003 to 2016 and before he was removed from office, he was the high-representative of the Workers' Party in the Brazilian Senate. He was the speaker of his party in the Senate and the head of the Senate's economic affairs committee. Amaral was arrested in November 2015 for allegedly taking kickbacks from Petrobras. A Supreme Court judge, Teori Zavascki, said he authorised the arrest after seeing evidence that Amaral had planned the flight of Petrobras's former international director, Nestor Cerveró [pt], in return for his silence. Ceveró was convicted of money laundering and sentenced to five years in prison.

Dorival Knippel (September 28, 1917 – February 15, 1990), was a Brazilian goalkeeper of the 1930s and 1940s, nicknamed Yustrich due to his resemblance to Juan Elias Yustrich, a Boca Juniors goalkeeper at that time. He was born in Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul.

Hélio de Oliveira Santos (born September 7, 1950, Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul) is a physician, graduated in the Medical School of the State University of Campinas and specialized in pediatrics, federal representative, and was the mayor of the municipality of Campinas, state of São Paulo, Brazil, from January 2005 to September 2011, when he was impeached. He is affiliated with the Partido Democrático Trabalhista (PDT).

Shirlene Coelho (born 19 February 1981) is a Paralympian athlete. She competed in the T37 javelin throw, discus throw and shot put at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Paralympics. At the 2016 Rio Paralympic games, she won a gold medal in Women's Javelin F37 and won a silver medal in Women's Discus Throw F38. At the 2012 London Paralympic games, she won a gold medal at the Women's Javelin F37/38 event. At the 2008 Beijing Paralympic games, she won a silver medal at the Women's Javelin F35-38.

José Manuel Fontanillas Fragelli (31 December 1915 – 30 April 2010) was a Brazilian politician, lawyer and academic. Fragelli served as the Governor of Mato Grosso from 1970 until 1974 and the President of the Senate of Brazil from 1985 through 1987.

Oswaldo de Barros Velloso (born 25 August 1908, death 8 August 1996) was a Brazilian football player. He has played for Brazil national team at the 1930 FIFA World Cup finals.

Apolônio de Carvalho (9 February 1912 – 23 September 2005) was a Brazilian socialist important in the history of the Workers' Party (Brazil). Due to his communist ideals, Carvalho was expelled from the Brazilian Army and left for Spain to fight alongside the republicans in the Spanish Civil War and afterwards against the Nazis in occupied France, reaching the rank of colonel in the French Army. Considered a hero in France, he was awarded the Legion of Honour among other decorations for bravery.
