Paralympic javelin throwers

Zipora Rubin-Rosenbaum (born 1946) is an Israeli athlete who has won 30 Paralympic medals. She has represented Israel at the Summer Paralympic Games seven times and has competed in athletics, swimming and table tennis at the Games.

Angela Madsen (May 10, 1960 – June 22, 2020) was an American Paralympian sportswoman, in both rowing and track and field. In a long career, Madsen moved from race rowing, to ocean challenges before switching in 2011 to athletics, winning a bronze medal in the shot put at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Madsen, along with team-mate Helen Taylor, is the first woman to have rowed across the Indian Ocean.

Deepa Malik (born 30 September 1970) is an Indian athlete. She started her career in the age of 30. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games and won a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put. She has also won gold in the F-53/54 Javelin event at the para athletic Grand Prix held in Dubai in 2018. She is currently the world number one in the F-53 category. She has won accolades for her participation in various adventure sports. She is associated with Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.) and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.). She has undertaken an 8-day, 1,700-km drive in sub-zero temperatures which included a climb to 18,000 feet (5,500 m). It was – Raid De Himalaya. This journey covers many difficult paths including remote Himalayas, Leh, Shimla and Jammu.

Hollie Beth Arnold, MBE (born 26 June 1994) is a British parasport athlete competing in category F46 javelin. Although born in Grimsby, she now lives and trains in Loughborough. She represents Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Arnold was the youngest ever field athlete to ever compete in the Paralympics/Olympics, at the age of 14 at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing throwing a personal best. She also threw a personal best in 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. She took the gold medal in the F46 javelin in the 2016 Summer Paralympics at Rio, also throwing a new world record at the same time. In 2018, she became the first ever Javelin thrower in history to hold all four major titles in the same Paralympic/Olympic 4-year cycle: Rio Paralympics and world record 2016, London World Championships and world record 2017, Berlin European Championships and course record 2018 and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and world record 2018. She also holds four consecutive world titles: 2013 Lyon, 2015 Doha, 2017 London, and 2019 Dubai.

Daphne Jean Hilton (née Ceeney; 7 January 1934 – 25 July 2016) was an Australian Paralympic competitor. She was the first Australian woman to compete at the Paralympic Games. She won fourteen medals in three Paralympics in archery, athletics, fencing, swimming, and table tennis from 1960 to 1968.

Francis Ettore Ponta (8 November 1935 – 1 June 2011) was an Australian Paralympic competitor and coach. He competed in several sports including basketball, pentathlon, swimming and fencing. A paraplegic, he lost the use of both his legs after a tumour was removed from his spinal column when he was a teenager. Ponta was a member of Australia's first national wheelchair basketball team, and is credited with expanding the sport of wheelchair basketball in Western Australia. At the end of his competitive career, he became a coach, working with athletes such as Louise Sauvage, Priya Cooper, Madison de Rozario, Bruce Wallrodt and Bryan Stitfall. He died on 1 June 2011 at the age of 75 after a long illness.

Kerrod Glenn McGregor (born 23 April 1962) is an Australian Paralympic athlete competing mainly in category P42 pentathlon events.

Karen Davidson is a British former wheelchair athlete. Davidson was a force in the London Marathon women's wheelchair race during the mid-1980s. She was the runner-up in 1986, won the race setting new course and British records in 1987, and retained her title in 1988 while setting another British record. She competed in both athletics and swimming at the 1984 Summer Paralympics, taking a gold medal in the shot put A1, silver in discus A1, bronze in javelin A1, and another bronze in the pool in the 200 metre individual medley A1. She participated in athletics again at the 1988 Games, but did not medal. Karen was a member of Rugby Sport for the Disabled Association.

Mohmoud Elatar is a paralympic athlete from Egypt competing mainly in category F58 javelin and discus events.

Laura Schwanger is a retired American Paralympic athlete and adaptive rower. She has competed at three Paralympic Games in track and field and returned twelve years later to compete in rowing at the 2008 Summer Paralympics. She is a four time Paralympic champion including six silver medals and one bronze medal in athletics and won a bronze medal in rowing.
