Papua New Guinean athletes

Toea Wisil (1 January 1988) is an athlete from Papua New Guinea who specializes in sprints. She was selected as her nation's flag bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. In her race, she impressed American TV announcer Ato Bolden by running an eased up 11.60 into a strong headwind, the number one qualifier from the preliminary round of the 100 m. She was equally impressive in the quarterfinal, beating the field including Allyson Felix out of the blocks and coming within .05 of qualifying to the semi-final round, finishing ahead of athletes that did not need to run in the preliminary round. During the Pacific Games, she won a triple-triple individual gold, 100 m, 200 m and 400 m, during 3 different editions, 2011, 2015 and 2019.

Mowen Boino (born 16 December 1979 in Port Moresby, National Capital District) is a Papua New Guinean track and field athlete, who specialized in 400 metres and in 400 metres hurdles. He is a three-time Olympian and four-time national record holder for the 400 m hurdles. He also achieved his personal best time of 50.37 seconds at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.

Joyleen Jeffrey (born 29 October 1989) is a Paralympic sprinter from Papua New Guinea.

Mae Koime (born 14 December 1983 in Kerema, Gulf Province) is a Papua New Guinean sprinter.

Wally Kirika (born October 27, 1982) is a sprinter from Kainantu, Papua New Guinea.

Margaret Aka (born 1976) is a soccer player and coach from Papua New Guinea. She is the first woman in Papua New Guinea — and the first in the world outside of New Zealand — to receive an Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B License in coaching. The first woman in Papua New Guinea to coach a male league team, she is also only the third to do so worldwide.

Nelson Stone (born 2 June 1984) is a Papua New Guinean runner. He competed in the 400 m event at the 2012 Summer Olympics but was eliminated in the first round despite setting a season's best time of 46.71.

Francis Kompaon (born 16 January 1986 in Rabaul) is a T46 Papua New Guinean athlete.

Anton Lui (born July 27, 1985, in Rabaul, East New Britain) is a sprinter from Papua New Guinea.
