Order of Australia

The Order of Australia is an order of chivalry established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, to recognise Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or meritorious service. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours.

Bruno Gordano Grollo AO (born 1942, Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian businessman.

Mona Menzies AM was an Australian Nursing Administrator active through the 1950s to 1980s. She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1986.

Freda Leslie Whitlam AM (11 September 1920 – 30 May 2018), was an Australian educator and feminist. Whitlam was a leader in the Uniting Church. She is best known for her work as the principal of the Presbyterian Ladies' College (PLC), at Croydon in inner-west Sydney, where she worked for 18 years.

Elaine Alys Haxton, AM (26 September 1909–6 July 1999) was an Australian painter, printmaker, designer and commercial artist.

Ruth Pauline Frith OAM (born Ruth Pursehouse, 23 August 1909 – 28 February 2014) was an Australian centenarian masters athlete. She was the oldest active athlete. She is the current holder of the masters world record in numerous events including the W85 Triple Jump, W100 Shot Put, Discus, Hammer Throw, Weight Throw and Javelin Throw and was the oldest competitor to complete a Throws Pentathlon and thus holds the record in that event. In younger age divisions, she held many more records that have been surpassed.

Kaarene Noelle Fitzgerald, AC (12 December 1944 – 24 May 2003) was an Australian advocate for the study and treatment of Sudden Infant Death. Fitzgerald founded the Sudden Infant Death Research Foundation (known as SIDS & Kids) on 11 July 1977. The organization began the day after her son Glenn died from an unexplainable death, known as a Sudden Infant Death.

Andrew Bruce Holmes, AC, FRS, FAA, FInstP (born 5 September 1943) is an Australian and British senior research chemist and professor at the Bio21 Institute, Melbourne, Australia, and the past President of the Australian Academy of Science. His research interests lie in the synthesis of biologically-active natural products (spanning therapeutic materials to new biotechnological probes) and optoelectronic polymers (with applications to electroluminescent flexible displays and organic solar cells).

Stephen Wallace AM (born 23 December 1943) is an Australian director. His 1984 film The Boy Who Had Everything was entered into the 14th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1986 film For Love Alone was entered into the 37th Berlin International Film Festival.

Jean Aileen Little OAM, née Ling (also known as Jean Jans from her first marriage) is an Australian Aboriginal leader and community advocate from Mapoon in the Far North Queensland. In 1997 the then Governor of Queensland, Leneen Forde, awarded Little the Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to Aboriginal health and community services.
