Olympic speed skaters for Japan

Miho Takagi (高木 美帆, Takagi Miho, born 22 May 1994) is a Japanese speed skater. She has won a total of seven medals at the Olympics, two of them gold.

Yukari Watanabe (渡邊 ゆかり, Watanabe Yukari, born 28 April 1981) is a Japanese speed skater. She competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Nana Takagi (髙木 菜那) (born 2 July 1992) is a Japanese former speed skater who is a member of the Nidec Sankyo speed skating team.

Miyako Sumiyoshi (住吉 都, Sumiyoshi Miyako, 19 March 1987 – 20 January 2018) was a Japanese speed skater. She competed at the 2013 World Sprint Championships in Salt Lake City, where she placed thirteenth. She also placed thirteenth in the sprint combination at the 2014 World Sprint Championships in Nagano. She competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, in the 500 metres (14th) and in the 1000 metres (22nd).

Nao Kodaira (Japanese: 小平 奈緒; born 26 May 1986) is a Japanese former long track speed skater who specialised in the sprint distances.

Masako Hozumi (Japanese: 穂積 雅子; born 11 September 1986, in Fukushima) is a Japanese speed skater from Hokkaido. In 2009, she finished fourth overall at the 2009 Allround. She competed for Japan at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.

Seiko Hashimoto (Japanese: 橋本 聖子, Hashimoto Seiko, born 5 October 1964) is a Japanese politician, former speed skater and track cyclist. She has the most Olympic appearances of any Japanese athlete, representing her native country in four consecutive Winter Olympics from 1984 to 1994 and in three consecutive Summer Olympics from 1988 to 1996. She is currently a member of the House of Councillors from the Liberal Democratic Party, and serves as the President of the Japan Skating Federation.

Akira Kuroiwa (黒岩 彰, Kuroiwa Akira, born 6 September 1961) is a former speed skater from Japan, who represented his native country at two consecutive Winter Olympics, starting in 1984 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. In 1988, he won the bronze medal in the men's 500 metres, after having captured two world titles at the Sprints Championships (1983 and 1987). At the 1984 Winter Olympics, Kuroiwa finished 10th in the men's 500 m.

Sayuri Osuga (Japanese: 大菅小百合, born 27 October 1980) is a Japanese speed skater and cyclist. She is one of the few athletes who started both in the Winter Games 2002 and 2006 (in the 500 m speed skating event) and in the 2004 Summer Games (in the 500 m time trial cycling event, placing 10th). Until 2006, she was a member of the professional Sankyoseiki speedskating team. She placed first and third in the Speedskating World Cup. She holds the Japanese records in the 500 m speed skating and the 500 m time trial event. From 2006 to 2011, she was sponsored by the construction company Daiwa House Industries Co. Ltd. She retired in 2011.

Maki Tabata (田畑 真紀, Tabata Maki, born 9 November 1974 in Mukawa, Hokkaido, Japan) is a speed skater and cycle racer.
