Kenneth Ray Rogers (August 21, 1938 – March 20, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Carl Demonte Crawford (born August 5, 1981), nicknamed "The Perfect Storm", is an American former professional baseball left fielder. He batted and threw left-handed.

Slater Nelson "Dugie" Martin Jr. (October 22, 1925 – October 18, 2012) was an American professional basketball player and coach who was a playmaking guard for 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Elmina, Walker County, Texas and played in seven NBA All-Star Games.

Herbert Alden Pasche (July 19, 1910 – May 9, 1986) was the first head coach of the Houston Cougars men's basketball team from 1946 to 1956. Pasche also served of as an assistant coach for the Houston Cougars football program as a line coach from 1946 to 1947. While at the university, Pasche served as an associate professor of health and physical education. Pasche was a 1932 graduate of Rice University, where he played football as an end for the Rice Owls.

Jerrell Jackson (born February 6, 1990) is an American football wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He played college football at Missouri.

James L. "Red" Owens (September 2, 1925 – October 11, 1988) was an American professional basketball player.

Nina Eloise Whittington Vance (1914–1980) was the founder and first artistic director of the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas, United States. She received awards and recognition, both nationally and internationally, for her work and contribution to the theater community.

Rodney Lloyd Edmonson Sr. (born April 14), professionally known as Jazzie Redd is an American radio personality and former recording artist. He formerly hosts local radio show BIG HOMIE Jazzie Redd. Redd is also a national recording artist and actor noted for the success of his hit single and video “I Am a Dope Fiend” released on Pump/ Quality records. This anti-drug rap song gained him instant recognition in the music industry as early as 1992.
