NEC Corporation

NEC Corporation (日本電気株式会社, Nippon Denki Kabushiki gaisha, an acronym for the Nippon Electric Company) is a Japanese multinational information technology and electronics corporation, headquartered at the NEC Supertower in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It provides IT and network solutions, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) platform, and telecommunications equipment and software to business enterprises, communications services providers and to government agencies. NEC has also been the largest PC vendor in Japan since the 1980s when it launched the PC-8000 series; it currently operates its domestic PC business in a joint venture with Lenovo.

Rapidus Corporation (Japanese: Rapidus株式会社, Hepburn: Rapidus Kabushiki-gaisha) is a semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. Rapidus was established in August 2022 with the support of eight major Japanese companies: Denso, Kioxia, MUFG Bank, NEC, NTT, SoftBank, Sony, and Toyota. The goal of Rapidus is to increase advanced semiconductor manufacturing capacity with a 2 nm process by 2027.

The NEC Karuizawa 72 is an annual golf tournament on the LPGA of Japan Tour. It is first played in 1987. The event is held in Nagano, currently at the Karuizawa 72 Golf North Course. The prize fund for 2019 was ¥80,000,000 with ¥14,400,000 going to the winner.

KMD (formerly Kommunedata which literally translates to 'municipality data'), develops IT solutions for Danish municipalities, government and others, as well as some branches of the army. Until 2009 it was owned by the municipalities' national association (Kommunernes Landsforening - KL), who sold the company to EQT AB (85%) and Arbejdsmarkedets Tillægspension (15%). In 2012 EQT AB sold its stake in the company to the private equity company Advent International. KMD acquired Banqsoft, a Nordic software company that specializes in financial services, in 2015.

The NEC Super Tower (NECスーパータワー, NEC Sūpātawā), often known as "NEC Supertower, SuperTower or simply Supertower", headquarters of NEC Corporation, is a 180-metre (590 foot) tall skyscraper in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It was completed in 1990 and was designed by Nikken Sekkei. Its primary use is as a commercial office space. Forty-three stories high and five underground, it was constructed at a cost of some 60 billion yen, according to Nikkei Business, January 5, 2007 edition.

NEC Software Solutions, formerly Northgate Public Services, is a provider of specialist software and outsourcing services for the public sector and is based in the United Kingdom. This followed its acquisition by NEC Corporation in January 2018.

NEC Red Rockets (NECレッドロケッツ, NEC Reddo Rokettsu) is a women's volleyball team based in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. It plays in V.League 1. The owner of the team is NEC.

Tadahiro Sekimoto (関本忠弘, Sekimoto Tadahiro, November 14, 1926 – November 11, 2007) was a Japanese electronics engineer, a recipient of the IEEE Medal of Honor (2004), chairman of Japan's Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies (IISE), and former chairman of the Board of Councilors of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) who served as president and later chairman of Japan's NEC Corporation (NEC). Born in Hyōgo, Japan, Sekimoto earned his BS in physics in 1948 and his Doctor of Engineering degree in 1962 at the University of Tokyo.

NEC Blue Rockets (NECブルーロケッツ, NEC Burū Rokettsu) is a men's volleyball team based in Fuchu city, Tokyo, Japan. It plays in V.Premier League. The owner of the club is NEC.
