Wanted for Murder is the title of a collection of six mystery novellas by Leslie Charteris which was first published in the United States in August 1931.

In the Teeth of the Evidence is a collection of short stories by Dorothy L. Sayers first published by Victor Gollancz in 1939. The book's title is taken from the first story in the collection.

"Frame-Up for Murder" is a Nero Wolfe mystery novella by Rex Stout, serialized in three issues of The Saturday Evening Post (June 21, June 28 and July 5, 1958).

The Barbie Murders is a science fiction short story by John Varley. It was first published in IASFM in January/February 1978, and subsequently reprinted as the title story of the 1980 Varley collection The Barbie Murders And Other Stories, later reissued as Picnic on Nearside. It was the second story to feature Anna Louise Bach as a police officer on the Moon, after "Bagatelle", which takes place much later in her career when she becomes the Chief of Police. Subsequent Bach stories appear to occur even earlier in her life.

"The Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl" is a short story by Ray Bradbury. It was first published in Detective Book Magazine in November 1948 (cover date: Winter) as "Touch and Go". "The Wedding Gig" is a short story by Stephen King first published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in 1980 and collected in King's 1985 collection Skeleton Crew, as well as in the 1999 mystery story anthology Master's Choice, edited by Lawrence Block.

"The Talking Stone" is a science fiction mystery short story by American writer Isaac Asimov, which first appeared in the October 1955 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and was reprinted in the 1968 collection Asimov's Mysteries. "The Talking Stone" was the second of Asimov's Wendell Urth stories.

"The Singing Bell" is a science fiction mystery short story by American writer Isaac Asimov, which first appeared in the January 1955 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and was reprinted in the 1968 collection Asimov's Mysteries. "The Singing Bell" was the first of Asimov's Wendell Urth stories.

A Spot of Folly is a collection of short stories by English writer Ruth Rendell. Subtitled "Ten And A Quarter New Tales Of Murder and Mayhem" the collection was published in 2017, two years after Rendell's death. The stories in the collection had been previously published in crime fiction magazines between 1970 and 2005, most of them Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine.
