Moscow Railway

The Kursky suburban railway line (Russian: Курское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas, mostly in Moscow Oblast. The Kursky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the stations in the south, in particular, with the towns of Podolsk, Chekhov, Serpukhov, Yasnogorsk, and Tula. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in Podolsk, Chekhov, and Serpukhov in Moscow Oblast, as well as in Zaoksky and Yasnogorsky Districts and the city of Tula in Tula Oblast. Some of the suburban trains have their northern terminus at Moscow Kursky railway station in Moscow, others commute from the Rizhsky suburban railway line. In the southern direction, the suburban trains terminate at Krasny Stroitel, Shcherbinka, Podolsk, Lvovskaya, Chekhov, Serpukhov, and Tula I. The line is operated by Moscow Railway. The tracks between Moscow Kursky railway station and Podolsk are also used by Line D2, one of the Moscow Central Diameters.

The Greater Ring of the Moscow Railway (Russian: Большое кольцо Московской железной дороги) is the common name for a system of connector lines between the railways that radiate from Moscow. The general configuration of the Greater Ring is a ring around the main part of Moscow (outside Moscow). It forms part of the radial-ring structure of the Moscow railways. The Greater Ring crosses the rail lines in all 11 radial directions from the railway stations of Moscow. It totals 584 kilometres (363 mi) in length. For its entire length, the ring is equipped with an automatic locking system, permitting, where necessary, two-way single-track operation; elsewhere, there are two track and multiple track sections.

Moscow Railway (Russian: Московская железная дорога) is a subsidiary of Russian Railways that handles half of Russia's suburban railway operations and a quarter of the country's passenger traffic. As of 2009 the railway, which has its headquarters near Komsomolskaya Square in Moscow, employed 73 600 people. It manages railway services in much of Central Russia, including Moscow and Moscow Oblast (all railways except the railroad to Saint Petersburg, which is managed by October Railway), Smolensk, Vladimir, Ryazan, Tula, Kaluga, Bryansk, Oryol, Lipetsk, and Kursk Oblasts.

D5 (Russian: МЦД-5) or Yaroslavsko-Paveletsky Diameter (Russian: Ярославско-Павелецкий диаметр) is the fifth line of the Moscow Central Diameters which will open in 2028 or later. The line may have 39 stations with the main route between Pushkino and Domodedovo stations and a branch route between Mytishchi and Shchyolkovo stations.

The Belorussky suburban railway line (Russian: Белорусское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas, mostly in Moscow Oblast. The Belorussky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the stations in the west, in particular, with the towns of Odintsovo, Golitsyno, Zvenigorod, Kubinka, and Mozhaysk. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in Odintsovo, Ruza, and Mozhaysk in Moscow Oblast. Some of the suburban trains have their eastern terminus at Moscow Belorussky railway station in Moscow, others commute from the Savyolovsky suburban railway line. In the western direction, the suburban trains terminate at Usovo, Odintsovo, Golitsyno, Zvenigorod, Kubinka I, Dorokhovo, Mozhaysk, and Borodino. The line is operated by Moscow Railway. The tracks between Moscow Belorussky railway station and Odintsovo are also used by Line D1, one of the Moscow Central Diameters, and by the service to Sheremetyevo International Airport, provided by Aeroexpress.

The Savyolovsky suburban railway line (Russian: Савёловское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven suburban railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas, mostly in Moscow Oblast. The Savyolovsky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the stations in the north, in particular, with the towns of Dolgoprudny, Lobnya, Yakhroma, Dmitrov, Taldom, Dubna, and Kimry. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in Dolgoprudny, Lobnya, Mytishchi, Dmitrov, Dubna, and Taldom in Moscow Oblast, and in Kimrsky District of Tver Oblast. Some of the suburban trains have their southern terminus at Moscow Savyolovsky railway station in Moscow, others commute from the Belorussky suburban railway line. In the northern direction, the suburban trains terminate at Lobnya, Aeroport Sheremetyevo, Iksha, Dmitrov, Verbilki, Dubna, Taldom, and Savyolovo. The suburban railway line is served by the Moscow Railway. The tracks between Moscow Savyolovsky railway station and Lobnya are also used by Line D1, one of the Moscow Central Diameters, and by the service to Sheremetyevo International Airport, provided by Aeroexpress. A section between Iksha and Yahroma is also used by the Greater Ring of the Moscow Railway.

D2 (Russian: МЦД-2) or Kursko-Rizhsky Diameter (Russian: Курско–Рижский диаметр) (Diameter 2; Pink Diameter)is the second of the Moscow Central Diameters, a suburban network in Moscow which uses the existing infrastructure of Moscow Railway and provides a regular connection between Moscow and surrounding cities. MCD-2 runs from Nakhabino via Krasnogorsk and Moscow to Podolsk.

D1 (Russian: МЦД-1) or Belorussko-Savyolovsky Diameter (Russian: Белорусско–Савёловский диаметр) (Diameter 1; Yellow Diameter) is the first of the Moscow Central Diameters, a suburban network in Moscow which uses the existing infrastructure of Moscow Railway and provides a regular connection between Moscow and surrounding cities. MCD-1 runs from Lobnya via Dolgoprudny and Moscow to Odintsovo.

The Gorkovsky suburban railway line or Gorkovskoye line (Russian: Горьковское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven suburban railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas, mostly in Moscow Oblast. The Gorkovsky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the station in the east, in particular, with the towns of Reutov, Balashikha, Elektrougli, Elektrostal, Noginsk, Pavlovsky Posad, Elektrogorsk, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Pokrov, Petushki, Kosteryovo, Lakinsk, and Vladimir. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in the towns of Reutov, Balashikha, Elektrogorsk, Elektrostal, Noginsk, Pavlovsky Posad, and Orekhovo-Zuyevo in Moscow Oblast, as well as in Petushinsky District, Sobinsky District, and the city of Vladimir of Vladimir Oblast. The suburban trains have their western terminus at Moscow Kursky railway station in Moscow. In the eastern direction, the suburban trains terminate at Balashikha, Zheleznodorozhnaya, Kupavna, Fryazevo, Zakharovo, Elektrogorsk, Petushki, and Vladimir. The line is served by Moscow Railway between Moscow and Petushki and by Gorky Railway between Petushki and Vladimir. The suburban railway line follows the railway which connects Moscow with Nizhny Novgorod (formerly Gorky, hence the name) via Vladimir. It is fully electrified. Between Moscow and Vladimir, there are two tracks. The distance between Moscow Kurskaya railway station and Vladimir is 190 kilometres (120 mi).

The Kiyevsky suburban railway line (Russian: Киевское направление Московской железной дороги) is one of eleven suburban lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas in Moscow Oblast and Kaluga Oblast. The Kiyevsky suburban railway line connects Moscow with the stations in the southwest, in particular, with the towns of Aprelevka, Naro-Fominsk, Balabanovo, Obninsk, Maloyaroslavets, and Kaluga. The stations the line serves are located in Moscow, as well as in the towns of Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk in Moscow Oblast, and in Borovsky and Maloyaroslavetsky Districts and the city of Kaluga of Kaluga Oblast. The suburban trains have their northeastern terminus at Moscow Kiyevsky railway station. In the southwestern direction, the suburban trains terminate at Solnechnaya, Novoperedelkino, Lesnoy Gorodok, Aprelevka, Bekasovo-1, Nara, Maloyaroslavets, Kaluga-1, and Kaluga-2. The section between Tikhonova Pustyn and Kaluga-1 follows the railway which proceeds further to Aleksin. The line is served by Moscow Railway.
