Lord mayors of Belfast

Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 9th Earl of Shaftesbury KP GCVO CBE PC (31 August 1869 – 25 March 1961), was the son of The 8th Earl of Shaftesbury and Lady Harriet Augusta Anna Seymourina Chichester (1836 – 14 April 1898), the daughter of The 3rd Marquess of Donegall and Lady Harriet Anne Butler.

Nigel Alexander Dodds OBE (born 20 August 1958) is a Northern Ireland barrister and unionist politician. Dodds became North Belfast's MP in the 2001 UK general election and served in that role until he was succeeded by Sinn Féin's John Finucane in 2019. He has served in the past as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly, and as Minister of Finance in the Northern Ireland Executive. He has been deputy leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) since June 2008. In July 2020, Dodds was nominated for a peerage in the House of Lords. He has been Lord Mayor of Belfast twice, and from 1993 has been General Secretary of the DUP.

Kate Siobhan Nicholl (born 4 May 1988) is a Northern Irish politician who is an MLA for Belfast South and who served as the 79th Lord Mayor of Belfast from June 2021 until her election as an MLA in May 2022. She is a member of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland. She was the first Lord Mayor in recent history not to be born in the United Kingdom or Ireland.

Sir James Horner Haslett (January 1832 – 18 August 1905) was an Irish Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1885 to 1886 and 1896 to 1905.

Sir Raymond Evelyn "Myles" Humphreys JP DL (24 March 1925 – 22 February 1998) was a Northern Irish Ulster Unionist Party politician and activist, and an engineer and businessman.

John Carson (born 1933) is a former Northern Ireland Ulster Unionist Party politician.

Alban Maginness (born 9 July 1950) is a politician from Holywood, County Down, in Northern Ireland. From 1998 to 2016, he was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for Belfast North.

David King Alderdice is a former Lord Mayor of Belfast, and a senior member of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland. He was elected to North Down Borough Council representing Holywood on 5 May 2005 and retired in July 2010.
