Literary translation

Uncertain Glory (Catalan: Incerta Glòria) is a novel by the Catalan writer and publisher Joan Sales i Vallès. The backdrop to the novel is the Spanish Civil War, in which Sales fought on the Republican side. The novel portrays the war in all its brutal complexity and offers no obvious partisan message. As Spanish writer Juan Goytisolo points out in his foreword, Sales "does not root his thinking in certainties but rather in lives exposed to the world’s absurdity, its procession of blood, death and injustice".

The Anglo-Swedish Literary Foundation is a fund for the development of cultural relations between the UK and Sweden. The fund was founded in 1927 by George Bernard Shaw with his Nobel Prize in Literature in 1925 as a basis. Administered by Swedish officials, its main expenditure is literary translation from Swedish into English.

Seagull Books is a publishing venture begun in Kolkata in 1982 by Naveen Kishore, a theater practitioner. It began primarily as a response to the growing need for an Indian publishing house for theater and the other arts and since then it has expanded its operations to include translations of world literature as well as twentieth- and twenty-first-century critical theory and non-fiction. At present, the company has registered divisions in London and New York City alongside its initial establishment in Kolkata (Calcutta).

New Vessel Press is an independent publishing house specializing in the translation of foreign literature and narrative nonfiction into English.

The Thornton Wilder Prize for Translation, established in 2009, is awarded by the American Academy of Arts & Letters to a practitioner, scholar or patron who has made a significant contribution to the art of literary translation. It was established by Tappan Wilder and Catharine Wilder Guiles, the nephew and niece of Academy member Thornton Wilder (1897–1975), and given for the first time in 2009.
