    As Farpas (The Barbs) was a monthly publication started by the authors and journalists Ramalho Ortigão and Eça de Queirós. It first appeared in 1871, when the authors were, respectively, 35 and 26, and was published in Portugal until the end of 1882. Subtitled "The Country and Portuguese Society", the monthly issues presented a caricature of the society of the time and are considered an important contribution to Portuguese literature and the launching of critical journalism in the country.

The review was headed by Luís de Montalvor who also published its first volume. The first volume was published in October 1916, the second in November and the last one in December.

    A Leitura: magazine literário (Portuguese for "The Letter: a Literary Magazine") was a review published in Lisbon, Portugal, from 1894 to 1896 which featured different genres including novels, short stories, novellas, histories, memories and theatre. The publication was read in its text by contributed greatest authors from the country and abroad including (the title with examples that refer to its authors in Volume IV): Olivieira Martins, Guiomar Torresão, Émile Zola, Mark Twain Guy de Maupassant, Leo Tolstoy, Edmundo de Amicis, Caetano da Costa Alegre from São Tomé and Príncipe and others.

    Claridade (Portuguese for "light") was a literary review inaugurated in 1936 in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. It was part of a movement of cultural, social, and political emancipations of the Cape Verdean society. The founding contributors were Manuel Lopes, Baltasar Lopes da Silva, who used the poetic pseudonym of Osvaldo Alcântara, and Jorge Barbosa, born in the Islands of São Nicolau, Santiago and São Vicente, respectively. The magazine followed the steps of the Portuguese neorealist writers, and contributed to the building of "Cape Verdeanity", an autonomous cultural identity for the archipelago.

    Sudoeste: cadernos de Almada Negreiros (Portuguese for "Southwest") was a Portuguese review published in Lisbon in 1935. The magazine was an attempt to continue the Orpheu movement. It was headed by Almada Negreiros (as suggested in the magazine's title), in collaboration with Dário Martins, which put their knowledge in different forms of direct interventionism, contacts and its influences to the publication of the periodical.
