Akaki Shanidze (Georgian: აკაკი შანიძე) (Born: 26 February 1887 in Nogha, Samtredia, Georgia – Died: 29 March 1987 in Tbilisi, Georgia) was a Georgian linguist and philologist. He was one of the founders of the Tbilisi State University (1918) and Academician of the Georgian Academy of Sciences (1941); Doctor of Philological Sciences (1920), Professor (1920). He was first doctor in Tbilisi state university, his works in Georgian is most important in linguistic Sciences.

Alexander Anton von Zagareli (also Cagareli or Tsagareli, Georgian: ალექსანდრე ანტონის ძე ცაგარელი; 9 December 1844 – 12 November 1929) was a Georgian linguist. He was professor at Saint Petersburg State University an co-founder of Tbilisi State University.

Georgy Klimov (Russian: Гео́ргий Андре́евич Кли́мов, Georgiy Andreyevich Klimov) (September 23, 1928 – April 29, 1997) was a Russian linguist and a leading specialist of the Caucasian languages. His interest primarily focused on the Kartvelian linguistics but also encompassed the Burushaski language and the Amerind language group.

Robert Pierpont Blake (November 1, 1886 – May 9, 1950) was an American Byzantinist and scholar of the Armenian and Georgian cultures.

Hans Kamstrup Vogt (1 June 1903 – 25 September 1986) was a Norwegian linguist who specialized in the Caucasian languages, especially Georgian. He also did significant early work on the Kalispel language and produced an interesting dictionary of the Ubykh language.

Marie-Félicité Brosset (January 24, 1802 – September 3, 1880) was a French orientalist who specialized in Georgian and Armenian studies. He worked mostly in Russia.

Cyril Leo Toumanoff (Russian: Кирилл Львович Туманов; 13 October 1913 – 4 February 1997) was a Russian-born Georgian historian and genealogist who mostly specialized in the history and genealogies of medieval Georgia, Armenia, Iran and the Byzantine Empire. His works have significantly influenced the Western scholarship of the medieval Caucasus.

Rozeta Gujejiani (Georgian: როზეტა გუჯეჯიანი) (October 25, 1970) is a Georgian historian, ethnologist, Candidate of Historical Sciences, professor, and the head of the Ethnology Department of St Andrew the First Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia.

Farshid Delshad (Persian: فرشید دلشاد‎) is an affiliated researcher, scholar of linguistics and Iranian Studies. He was Lecturer of Persian and Comparative Linguistics at University of Freiburg and at University of Bern. Delshad's first PhD and academic thesis at Tbilisi State University in 2000 dealt with Comparative Linguistics and Caucasian Studies.

Kita "Petre" Chkhenkeli (Georgian: კიტა "პეტრე" ჩხენკელი; Tschenkéli in western literature) (8 November 1895 – 22 October 1963) was a Georgian linguist and lexicographer based in Germany and Switzerland. He is best known for his Georgisch-Deutsches Wörterbuch, which is "widely regarded as the most comprehensive Georgian dictionary in any western language."
