Karnataka politicians

Dinakara Desai (ದಿನಕರ ದೇಸಾಯಿ) is a poet, writer, educationist, and political activist. He is famous for his poetry form called chutuka (also known as Chutuka Brahma). Chutuka or chutuku is a quadraplet poem. This format was later adopted by other poets. He has made major contributions towards the literary development of the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

K. Puttaswamy [Kalastavadi Puttaswamy] (born 1917) was an Indian lawyer, and a senior Indian National Congress politician, who remained a member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly (1952–1977), three times from Mysore and subsequently twice from Chamundeshwari constituency., who also served as Minister of various ministry of Government of Karnataka, including Labour, Public Administration and Health & Housing. He has also remained member of the Constituent Assembly in 1948.

Umashree (born 10 May 1957) is an Indian actress and politician. She is known for her portrayal of film roles spoken in the Kannada language (over 400), particularly comic roles. She received National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as Gulabi in the 2008 Kannada movie Gulabi Talkies. In 2013, Umashree became a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Karnataka in the government of Siddaramaiah where she was the minister for women and child development, empowerment of the differently abled and senior citizens, Kannada language and culture.

Malavalli Huchchegowda Amarnath (29 May 1952 – 24 November 2018), known by his screen name Ambareesh, was an Indian actor, media personality, politician from the state of Karnataka. Alongside Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan, he is counted in Kannada cinema's "triumvirate" as its most celebrated actor.

Jeevaraj Alva (1947–2001) was an Indian politician and a minister in the government of Karnataka.

Hardanahalli Devegowda Revanna (born 17 December 1957) is an Indian politician from the state of Karnataka, and a member of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Karnataka, representing the Holenarasipur constituency in Hassan district. His political party is Janata Dal (Secular).

K.H. Muniyappa (born 7 March 1948) is a member of the 16th Lok Sabha of India. He has consecutively represented the Kolar constituency of Karnataka in the Lok Sabha since 1991 and is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party. He was the Union Minister of State (Independent charge) of Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Manepalli Narayana Rao Venkatachaliah (born 25 October 1929) was the 25th Chief Justice of India. He served as Chief Justice from 1993 to 1994. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed University), a Modern Gurukula, a place where the teacher-student interaction occurs in the backdrop of the process of Integral Education that includes the five dimensions of: Intellectual, Cultural, Physical, Service and Devotional. and on the Advisory Board of Foundation for Restoration of National Values, a society established in 2008 that strives to restore National and Cultural Values of India.

Honnasandra Narasimhaiah Chandrashekar, known popularly as Mukhyamantri Chandru (born 28 August 1953), is an Indian actor and politician. As an actor, he is known for his work in Kannada theatre and cinema. The sobriquet Mukhyamantri (Chief Minister) stuck to his name after the play of the same name that sees him portray the titular role became widely popular. Having portrayed mostly comic and negative roles throughout his career, Chandru is a regarded as a character actor, and has acted in over 500 films since making his debut in 1983.

H. T. Sangliana (born 1 July 1943) was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Bangalore North of Karnataka from the BJP, but lost the election for 15th Lok Sabha from Bangalore Central with INC. He was given the post of Vice-Chairperson, National Commission for Minorities, with a status equivalent to the Minister of State in the central government.
