Irish violinists

Sharon Helga Corr MBE (born 24 March 1970) is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, and television personality. She is best known as a member of the pop-rock band The Corrs, which she co-founded in 1990 with her elder brother Jim and younger sisters Caroline and Andrea. She plays the violin, piano and guitar, and sings backing vocals. She began learning the violin when she was six years old. She has played in national youth orchestras and is qualified to teach the violin.

Máiréad Nesbitt ( muh-raid, ) is an Irish musician. She is known for performing Celtic and classical music and being the former fiddler for Celtic Woman.

Fionnuala Sherry (born 20 September 1962) is an Irish violinist and vocalist. She makes up half of the New Instrumental duo Secret Garden, which won the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 with the predominantly instrumental piece "Nocturne".

Aubrey Murphy is an Irish violinist who is Concertmaster of the Cleveland Opera Theater and Opera Project Columbus. Murphy was previously Concertmaster of the Opera Australia (OA) orchestra in Sydney, Australia and was Principal Violinist for the Royal Opera House Orchestra, London, UK.

Aindrias Stack (aka Aindrias de Staic) (born 9 November 1977, Galway, Ireland) is an Irish actor, musician and one of a new generation of Irish storytellers. He performs in both Irish and English. Aindrias Stack is best known for his award-winning one man shows Around the World on 80 Quid, The Year I Got Younger, The Summer I Did the Leaving and The Man From Moogaga.

Maud MacCarthy (4 July 1882 – 2 June 1967), was an Irish violinist, singer, theosophist, writer, poet, esoteric teacher and authority on Indian music. She was among the first to begin a campaign to abolish the use of the harmonium in Indian music. She noted that keyed instruments and their rigid notes had caused the decline in vocal skills in Western music.

Cora Venus Lunny (born 1982) is an Irish violinist. She is the daughter of Irish musician Dónal Lunny and German photographer Julia Buthe.

Matthew Dubourg (1703 – 3 July 1767) was an English violinist, conductor, and composer who spent most of his life in Ireland. Among other achievements, Dubourg led the orchestra at the premiere of Georg Friedrich Handel's great oratorio Messiah.

Francis Hutcheson (13 August 1721 – 5 September 1784) was an Irish violinist, composer, physician and lecturer in chemistry. His surname was often misspelled as "Hutchinson". He published his music under the pseudonym "Francis Ireland".
