The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards was held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on March 14, 2019, and was broadcast live on Fox. Ariana Grande and Ella Mai are the most awarded artist with 3 each of the night. Cardi B lead the list of nominees with 14 nominations. T-Pain, who won The Masked Singer, hosted the show.

The 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards were held on March 11, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The list of nominations was announced on January 10, 2018. DJ Khaled and Hailey Baldwin hosted the ceremony. TBS, TNT, and truTV broadcast the ceremony in the United States, while the red carpet was broadcast live on the network's social media pages. The telecast aired following the 2018 NCAA Selection Show on TBS. Taylor Swift premiered the music video for her single "Delicate" at the show. 2018 marked the show's final simulcast on TBS, TNT, and truTV, as it returned to broadcast television the following year, and aired on new partner network FOX for the first time.

The awards recognized the biggest artists and songs of the year. The show was directed by Hamish Hamilton. The voting took place on iHeartRadio's official webpage except for the "Instagram Award", where voting took place on social network Instagram.

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards were held on March 5, 2017 at The Forum in Inglewood, California, and hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The list of nominations was announced on January 3, 2017. Drake received the most nominations with fifteen categories, followed by The Chainsmokers with twelve.

The 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on March 22, 2022, and was broadcast live on Fox from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM EDT. The ceremony was returned to its traditional March schedule after the last two events were altered or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was hosted by American rapper and actor LL Cool J.

The 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards were originally scheduled to take place on a to-be-determined date in 2020. The ceremony was to be hosted by Usher and air on Fox. The ceremony lost its venue, the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, on March 12, 2020, due to the state of California restricting gatherings to 250 people in response to the national coronavirus pandemic, which has cancelled scores of television events through March into July, along with postponing the ACM Awards and Billboard Music Awards. On the morning of March 16, iHeartMedia announced the ceremony's official postponement. Online listener voting on all categories continued as previously scheduled until March 23, with the Best Fan Army category remaining open for voting until March 27.
