Government of the United Arab Emirates

On 2 December 1971, the United Arab Emirates was established as a federal independent country with the participation of the following emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan became the president and Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum the vice president. On the same day Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum was given the task of forming the government. The cabinet was announced on 9 December.

The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) or (Awqaf) (Arabic: الهيئة العامة للشؤون الاسلامية والاوقاف) is a federal agency of the government of the United Arab Emirates.

The Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates, or Council of Ministers (Arabic: مجلس الوزراء), is the chief executive body of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) federal government. The cabinet consists of federal government ministers, and is led by the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. Although not stated in the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates, the position of prime minister is nominally held by the ruler of Dubai. The cabinet reports to the president of the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Supreme Council.

The president of the United Arab Emirates (Arabic: رئيس دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة), or the Raʾīs (Arabic: رَئِيْس), is the head of state of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Federal Supreme Council (Arabic: المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد, 'Supreme Council of the Union'), also known as the Supreme Council of Rulers, is the highest constitutional authority in the United Arab Emirates, being the highest legislative and executive body. It replaced the earlier Trucial States Council upon the formation of the United Arab Emirates in 1971 and establishes general policies and sanctions federal legislation. It is the highest federal authority in terms of hierarchy in the five federal authorities prescribed in the Constitution followed by the president and the vice president, federal cabinet, Federal National Council and the federal judiciary. It is made up of the rulers of each of the Emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

The Federal National Council (FNC) (Arabic: المجلس الوطني الإتحادي, al-Majlis al-Watani al-Ittihadi) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is an advisory quasi-parliamentary body in the UAE. The FNC consists of 40 members. Twenty of the members are indirectly elected by the hand-picked 33% of Emirati citizens who have voting rights through an electoral college, while the other twenty are appointed by the rulers of each emirate. According to Reuters, "the process of selecting the people who can either elect or be elected is opaque."

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs is the federal ministry of the United Arab Emirates responsible for coordinating elections for the Federal National Council, and disseminating information surrounding parliamentary activities. The ministry was founded multi-phased and gradual political reform process by Federal Decree No. (10)/2006, headed by Anwar Gargash, in early 2006. The ministry’s founding came after the National Action Program announced by the then president, Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to mark the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE.

The United Arab Emirates Army (UAEA) is the land force branch of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.The UAE Armed Forces were officially formed in 1976, unifying the military forces of the individual emirates under a single command.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) (Arabic: وزارة الصحة) is the ministry of the Government of United Arab Emirates which is responsible for the implementation of health care policy in all areas of technical, material, and coordination with the Ministries of State, and cooperation with the private sector in health locally and internationally. The ministry is led by the minister, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Oweis.

The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates is the deputy head of state of the United Arab Emirates. The office holder will perform all the responsibilities of the President of the United Arab Emirates in the latter's absence for any reason.
