Theodor Wolff (2 August 1868 – 23 September 1943) was a German writer who was influential as a journalist, critic and newspaper editor. He was born and died in Berlin. Between 1906 and 1933 he was the chief editor of the politically liberal newspaper Berliner Tageblatt.
Katrin Hattenhauer (born 10 November 1968 in Nordhausen, Thueringen) is a German painter and civil rights activist. In the late 1980s she was a member of the GDR-opposition movement. On 4 September 1989 she demonstrated "For an Open Country with Free People", marking the beginning of the Monday demonstrations in Leipzig. Her paintings and social sculptures have been exhibited in Europe.
Werner Gustav Schulz (born January 22, 1950 in Zwickau; died November 9, 2022 in Berlin) was a German politician (Alliance '90/The Greens). He was from 1990 to 2005 a Member of the German Bundestag and from 2009–2014 a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Schulz is considered the only profiled civil rights activist from East Germany who prevailed permanently in his party.
Martin Böttger (born 14 May 1947 in Frankenhain, a village now part of Frohburg) was a prominent civil rights activist in East Germany. He was a member of the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony from 1990 to 1994 and led the faction of Alliance '90/The Greens.
Carola Stabe is a former dissident and civil rights activist in East Germany GDR. She is the founder and leader of the environmental group ARGUS in Potsdam, Germany. She initiated the GDR- wide opposition network of environmental groups, which later converged in the Grüne Liga.
