Birdy is the first soundtrack and sixth album overall by British rock musician Peter Gabriel, for the movie of the same name, released in 1985 (see 1985 in music). The album marked Gabriel's first work with producer Daniel Lanois. It was remastered with most of Gabriel's catalogue in 2002.

To Live and Die in L.A. is the third studio album by English new wave band Wang Chung. It was released on 30 September 1985 by Geffen and is their first recorded as a duo of lead singer Jack Hues and bassist Nick Feldman following the departure of drummer Darren Costin. The album served as the soundtrack for the 1985 film To Live and Die in L.A, directed by William Friedkin. Instead of following up the success that Points on the Curve had provided them, the band switched gears to produce an original motion picture soundtrack. The switch allowed for them to experiment with different styles of music from the more conventional pop music found on their previous album.

Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture End of Days is the soundtrack to Peter Hyams' 1999 film End of Days. It was released on November 2, 1999 via Geffen Records, and primarily contains tracks by alternative metal and industrial rock bands. It features the first song released by the "new line-up" of Guns N' Roses, the industrial-rock "Oh My God". During End of Days's editing, soundtrack songs were overlaid in scenes that are typically silent in thriller films. A sample from Spectrasonics' "Symphony of Voices" is heard in several scenes.

Days of Thunder is the soundtrack from the film of the same name, released in 1990 in the US by DGC Records, in Japan by CBS/Sony and internationally by Epic Records.

Psycho: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture is the soundtrack album to the 1998 remake of Psycho. The record was released on December 1, 1998 by Geffen Records.

Dreamgirls: Original Broadway Cast Album is the cast album for the original Broadway production of the musical Dreamgirls, which debuted at the Imperial Theatre on December 20, 1981. Issued by David Geffen, a co-financier of the musical and later producer of its 2006 film adaptation, the album was released by his Geffen Records label on April 14, 1982. The cast album features performances by the show's performers, including Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Loretta Devine, Ben Harney, Cleavant Derricks, Obba Babatundé, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Album is a soundtrack album for the television series Sabrina The Teenage Witch, released on October 27, 1998, by Geffen Records. The album mainly contains music by contemporary pop and alternative rock artists, such as the Spice Girls, Sugar Ray, and Britney Spears. Most of the songs on the soundtrack were either featured in the series or are by artists that made appearances in the series. The album also includes series actress Melissa Joan Hart's cover of "One Way or Another". The album was preceded by the release of the single "So I Fall Again" by Phantom Planet in September 1998.

The Help is a 2011 period comedy-drama film written and directed by Tate Taylor and based on Kathryn Stockett's 2009 novel of the same name. The film features an ensemble cast, including Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer, and Emma Stone. Two soundtrack albums were released for the film: an original soundtrack and an original score. Music producer Thomas Newman, music supervisor Jennifer Hawks, director Tate Taylor, worked on both the soundtracks as the executive producer, while Newman also composed the film score. The soundtrack album was released by Geffen Records (a subsidiary of Universal Music Group) and DreamWorks Records on August 4, 2011, while Varèse Sarabande released the score album on September 6.

Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who is a compilation of songs featured in the documentary of the same name. This soundtrack was only released in Best Buy stores in the United States.

The music of the Back to the Future franchise is composed in conjunction with the development of several feature films and a stage musical, within the Back to the Future franchise created by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. All music in the franchise was composed by American composer Alan Silvestri, with The Musical being co-written with Glen Ballard.
